I would not hesitate to trade him to Indy for Sabonis as someone else proposed, just don't see Indy agreeing to that with their latest roster additions.

Would consider swapping him for Goga even.

Yabu making over 3 mil a season...SMH....could really use that money for an actual player that contributes and isn't kept around for bench celebrations

He's gotta be the biggest waste of a 1st round pick I can remember.  At least James Young had theoretical upside when drafted.

Quote
Theis is 6-10 with is good height but his skillset as somone who can stop/slow the Joel Embiids of the world is suspect. He doesn't have the lateral quickness and speed to do so

It is lack of strength and body type that holds him back, I think he is plenty quick enough to got stay laterally with Embiid, it's just that he can't hold his ground.

He is more of a PF before the league went SFs at PF.

This is a good point.  Theis is in a tough spot in the modern NBA because he's a pure big man without the size to check the pure athletic rim runners that many teams employ as their only pure big on the floor in a 4 out scheme.

I think the Celts are just gonna be boned against teams that have large centers who can score.  Robert Williams will do his best but will probably foul out right quick if he's tasked with defending any high usage player for more than a few minutes at a time.
you have a short memory. you dont recall this guy - Anthony Bennett, Cleveland Cavaliers?

Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

He has guarded bigs before (Gasol, Davis, Millsap etc) and actually has a good post game on offense. Maybe he can play Point-Center like Giannis does in spurts

Unless Boogie is walking thru that door our exit will be the first round of the playoffs.

I think we will have to find some sort of stopgap above average LEGIT C with limited injury history for the next 2-3 years. Someone with limited upside and young.
We might just have to trade that unprotected Memphis pick AND Smart/Brown to get back someone of quality.

if not our 2019-2020 ceiling is a first round exit.

I'd rather keep Smart, Brown, and the Memphis pick than spend our best assets to get out of the first round. If there's a deal that looks better for us long term, then by all means go for it, but don't spend our best assets for just a second round exit
I'm bitter.

There is a better chance hayward comes off bench as the do all with the young unproven bench players.

Kemba
Smart
Brown
Tatum
Williams

Edwards
Langford
Hayward
Yabusele
Williams

Right now thats starters and bench.

But we will gave a starting center soon putting grant williams to bench pf and rwilliams to bemch center

You have Grant is our starting center? I assume that is the shortest starting team in NBA history lol! If Hayward doesn't start than he's not healthy and we're in trouble. Also if Brown doesn't start ( I know you have him in there as a starter) we will lose him, he's not going to swallow coming off the bench again.

Hayward can play 10 mpg at the 4 and than sub patterns have to get him back to the 3. Smart will be the back up PG and wing. I have no hope for the rookies Langord is buried behind better players right now and Grant is a short late first round pick. Any meaningful minutes from these 2 would be shocking.

No rob williams starting center.
Grant williams bemch center unless theis is indeed back, then yabusele to deep bench, gwilliams to bench pf and theis is bench center.

And ideally we sign a starting center anyways and its all moot.

Right now

Pgs kemba 1, edwards 2
Sgs smart 1, langford 2
Sfs brown 1, hayward 2
Pfs tatum 1, semi 2 or yabusele 2
Cs rob 1, gwilliams 2.

Theis and room mle chamges frontcourt rotations, but pg,sg,sf stay the same.

and Hayward is your 6th man?  Smart is better for the role.

Alright, pencil Kanter in for 20-24 mpg as the starting center.

You don't pay 31 million for Hayward to be a 6th man. He will start.

I think some of that had to do with the injury last season.
