The bad news: the price OKC paid suggests he is a true rental.

3 first rounders (NOT including Nets Pick Or Lakers Pick), Crowder, and another player.

Indiana apparently said "No"

If Ainge offered that, and they said no, and they continued to say no, I guess you can't really blame Ainge.

This was on Draft Night apparently.

I don't believe that for a minute. This is just Ainge throwing out something to cover himself. I expect Indy to state that all these rumors from Boston were bogus.

But hey....the followers here at the Church of Ainge won't believe that their guy can be at fault.

I'd rather have Oladipo and Sabonis than Crowder and some picks in the 20s.
it would have also been bradley

That's not in the reports.

A Bradley level contract would be needed to make the numbers work though.

I'll pass on Oladipo's $21 million a year salary for the next 4 seasons.

For a 24 year old putting up good numbers? Wait until AB gets a max.
Re Bradley I wouldn't pay a guy who can't create his own shot anything close to the max.  Neither will the Celtics.

Not on draft night it wouldn't have.

I wasn't even pumped up about paul george. He's never impressed me in the playoffs. He's missing the "it" factor. He gets no hype

Roy, you are a staple of CB and probably the most important poster here, but you are overreacting. 'Crowder and late firsts' (even though it is likely we offered more) is still better than freakin' Oladipo and Sabonis with no picks.

This is just proof that people are afraid to get ripped off by Ainge.

Just so we're clear...where are you getting that Ainge's offer was that?  You keep repeating it but EVERY report on this was that if we got Hayward, we would have to trade BOTH Crowder and Bradley just to fit George under the salary cap.

So what are you talking about?

Mike

Every reported version of the deal has Crowder and non-lottery picks going to Indy.

Maybe AB or Smart were headed to Indy. Or maybe Danny wanted a 3-way where AB / Smart ended up on a third team.

Okay.  Just stop.  It is an absolute fact that ALL reports involving Boston were about signing Hayward AND THEN trading for George.  So if we made an offer for George, it had to have been made so as to leave open the chance of getting Hayward.

Again, where did you see that the offer for George was ONLY Crowder and picks?

Mike

AB is a more important player in today's NBA than a combo guard like Oladipo.

Anybody saying otherwise is just being contrary.

Maybe we can bring in JR Smith or Brandon Jennings instead since that is what apparently appeases the masses.

Why is Crowder + late firsts better than Oladipo and Sabonis? I'd take the latter all day.

How so? In order for the Celtics to take in 18 million after signing Hayward, they would need to ship out about 14 million, right?

People in Indy will pay to go see Oladipo because he went to IU. No ones buying tickets for Jae Crowder and a pu pu platter of picks
