But i think everyone's underestimating how quickly this will turn.

Not everyone.  I think it's going to take at least half a decade to end up with a team good enough to make the conference finals.

Why? How do you think it will play out?

It's just playing the averages.  The overwhelming number of teams that rebuild never make it to contention.

man do we suck right now. Its okay, its okay (weeps silently but smiles knowing that we have the picks for next year);

I want Green, Bass, Bradley and Bogans off this team next year.
Peavey Bass Player - relearning to play after 10 years sucks;

Ironic that at the height of the last big 3 era, we could not beat them at home.

Yep.

I'm confident that Danny can put together the talent for Stevens to mold into a contender.  I think that will take at least a couple more years.

What people so often underestimate -- especially after things came together so quickly following the KG / Allen trades -- is the amount of time it usually takes for even a very talented group to come together.

Unless you're bringing together a bunch of superstars (and not even necessarily in that case), the team probably won't be one of the true blue contenders right away.  It's called "reBUILDING" for a reason.  You have to build your way up, not simply pull the trigger and presto! contender status!

I'm optimistic that the team will be on a clear path toward contender status in two to three years.  But as for actual contention?  I think that's probably half a decade away, if we're lucky.
You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

A lot depends on whether LeBron will continue to keep it going in Miami or assemble a new group somewhere else in the East. Otherwise, I think the East is going to remain weak for a while, and may be easier for us to get to the finals.

Winning another championship is another matter.

I'm just hoping they'll be a playoff team in one to two years.

I just hope by the end of next year I feel like we have most of the key blocks for the rebuilding. Right now we need more blocks, and better blocks, and we have no blocks at certain positions.

All the more reason why the rebuild should only take 1 year or 2 years max. Otherwise, we are going to be stuck in no-man's land; I'm looking at you Bobkitties, Wolves.

I don't want to spend another decade in mediocrity and be the laughing stock of the league.

Rondo deserved an Oscar and the broadcast crew an Emmy for not laughing out loud once the Magic's win was in the bag.
