  • Doc could learn a thing or two from Norman Dale
From time to time, people ask "why do I have _______'s name under my avatar" or "how do I change my player"?  Recently, we changed some of our post-based member groups, so we wanted to take some of the mystery out of it by posting the players linked to each post count here:

0 - Free Agent
1 - J.R. Giddens
2 - Lester Hudson
5 - Tony Allen
10 - Bill Walker
15 - Shelden Williams
20 - Brian Scalabrine
25 - Marquis Daniels
50 - Glen Davis
75 - Eddie House
100 - Rasheed Wallace
150 - Doc Rivers
200 - Kendrick Perkins
250 - Rajon Rondo
500 - Ray Allen
750 - Kevin Garnett
======================= (members start earning stars) =========
1,000 - Paul Pierce
2,000 - Bill Walton
3,000 - Don Chaney
4,000 - Bailey Howell
5,000 - Antoine Walker
6,000 - Paul Silas
7,000 - Tiny Archibald
8,000 - Jim Loscutoff
9,000 - Don Nelson
10,000 - Danny Ainge
11,000 - Tom Sanders
12,000 - Ed Macauley
13,000 - Frank Ramsey
14,000 - K.C. Jones
15,000 - Reggie Lewis
16,000 - Cedric Maxwell
17,000 - JoJo White
18,000 - Dennis Johnson
19,000 - Bill Sharman
20,000 - Johnny Most
21,000 - Robert Parish
22,000 - Sam Jones
23,000 - Dave Cowens
24,000 - Tommy Heinsohn
25,000 - Kevin McHale
26,000 - Bob Cousy
27,000 - John Havlicek
28,000 - Larry Bird
29,000 - Bill Russell
30,000 - Red Auerbach
31,000 - Walter Brown
32,000 - James Naismith
33,000 - Celticsblog Legend

The most any member can earn is 33 stars, which seems fitting.  A note on the order:  we roughly based the list off of the recent "Top 25" voting in the History forum.  However, we added some caveats:  current players (and Doc) make up the first 16 slots.  Thereafter, we went with retired players who haven't had their number retired, and then players, management, etc., that have had their number retired.  (Danny Ainge is a bit out of place, but deal with it. ;))

What do you think?  Who did we get wrong?

You're not anticipating a stellar career, where he somehow breaks his way into the top 7 or 8 Celts of all-time?  Pessimist.

Like him or not, TA should have at least ranked ahead of Marquis on tenure alone.

I like the idea of following the recent "top 25" list.

That's what I used to think about this whole Mayan 2012 thing back in the 80's, yet here we are now, and here it comes.  John Cusack save us all  ::)
Yup

Originally, we had Tony below J.R., but that just would have been too mean-spirited.

No way he makes it ahead of a guy who can actually play, though.

Surprised that Pierce is so low on the list. I understand he's active but he is still a top 10 Celtic all-time. Is he the reward you get for getting your first star?

Yep.  The first star should be a fairly big deal.  Plus, it was important to keep the current team together.  As soon as Pierce retires or otherwise moves us, he'll move significantly up the list.
