I guess Danny boy made some noise about trading McHale and he was the one ended up getting dealt. Danny worked for a boss named Red Auerbach, an icon for corporate loyalty that actually did exist once upon a time. Red would never trade Larry, Robert or Kevin and that was that. But the deaths of Len Bias and Reggie Lewis guarenteed that the Celtics would struggle for 10 years after Bird, Parish, and McHale stopped walking through that door.

Now in todays world, the Celtics are near the top once again. They have the best starting five in pro basketball even though Orlando got VC and Cleveland added the Diesel. This Rondo dustup should go away fairly quickly. We just need to focus on strengthening our bench like the post 1985 team did by adding Bill Walton and Jerry Schicting or the post 1975 team did by adding Charlie Scott. This year it is as simple as adding McDyess (midlevel), Grant Hill (LLE), and making a trade using Scals and TA's expiring contracts at the trading deadline.

For the future, Boston can shop for a third maximum player because Ray Allen comes off the books in 2010. Danny will look to acquire more chips in the post Pierce-Garnett-Ray Allen era to trade for future superstars in this league.
