I think he could be a solid backup to Perk this upcoming season. The question is: What would New Jersey want for him? We could offer Scal and Tony Allen would that bit of Cap relief be enough? His contract expires before 2010 so it's a low risk move.

I think Battie is older than Adam West

I agree, I was thinking that he would be a good addition.  You could play him a little at the 4 with Perk as well.  He looks to have a lot left in the tank.

He is a bit overpaid at $6 Million... Maybe he's the type we hope takes a buyout? Is that possible? I feel like he'd be a solid option at the backup 5.

Orlando was glad to be rid of him.  He's not that good anymore.

If Orlando was glad to get rid of him it was because of the emergence of both Their #1 pick and Gortat... He is still a solid defensive Center and would be an adequate backup here.

Battie is not terrible, but there are better options for our team.
Grab a few boards, keep the TO's under 14, close out on shooters and we'll win.

I think Battie is a fine option as a last resort type.  But he shouldn't be a priority.

The more I think about it, the expiring assets of Scal and Tony Allen are worth more than Battie. However, I'd love to get him here for the Min. after a buyout. That is of course after roster consolidation.

I mean yeah, sure, if we can't afford other people and he's the only one left, then sure, I wouldn't be upset if we signed him, but still--lets not prioritize Tony Battie.

I'm not by any means "prioritizing" Tony Battie. I'm exploring different bench options.

I wasn't trying to sound condescending if that's how you took it.

I just wouldn't explore the option of Tony Battie until all of the other better options are gone.

It still amazes me that guy got a multi-million dollar deal a couple years ago.
