We can't do what everyone else is doing because we already did it! two years ago - picked up 2 perennial all-stars and future hall of famers, AND we built through the draft over the last 5 or so years rounding out the starting rotation with two more potential all-stars (though Perk is a stretch)
we can't have all-stars positions 1-12, this isn't NBA Live
we do need to solidify the bench - best mix would be 1 veteran big man, ala Rasheed, McDyess, etc. who can really fill it up, get boards, play d, spell perk - 2 tweeners, guys who can play the 4 and 5 - already got Baby, need something else here - Chris Anderson's a pipe dream but could happen - 2 swingmen who can play the 2 and the 3 and give us defense and maybe some 3 point shooting - Bruce Bowen sounds great here - I'd say get rid of TA at this point - need a designed shooter off the bench - Eddie House is the man - need a true veteran backup PG - I'm cool with steph at the minimum, or bring in a guy like Brevin Knight or Anthony Johnson - just need solidness and a guy who can set up the offense - then you have 3-4 spots for emergency backups - ala Scal and maybe another vet + projects/injury guys ala Powe, Swift (if Danny is still obsessed) and a guard of some sort - also trade Walker or Giddens for a future pick if you can...
to summarize
you keep the starting 5, unless a deal you can't refuse comes in for Ray
Perk - Vet C (Rasheed?)
KG - Vet PF/C (Anderson?) - Baby - Powe
Pierce - Vet Swingman (Bowen?) - Scal
Ray - House - Walker or Giddens
Rondo - Vet PG (or marbury) - Project Guard
That's 15 spots and would obviously necessitate using the vet minimum to get some guys in, but lets bring in hungry veterans; guys who understand the league, are willing to play D, not care about minutes - just want the golden ring, cuz that is what its all about
