Free agent Jared Dudley had good things to say about Celtics coach Brad Stevens in a tweet on Friday. Dudley responded to a question about Stevens by posting, “One of the best X and O’s in the game.. players coach but not afraid to try all types of lineups… Rewards playing time by playing smart but Hard.. heard only good things.” Dudley has expressed interest in joining the Celtics, notes Michael DePrisco of NBC Sports Boston.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
I'd take Jared Dudley as a veteran presence guy in the locker room.

Yeah, he has now spoken glowingly about the Cs multiple times this offseason. I think it's all but a given that he comes back home and signs here for the minimum. I suppose it's possible another team might overpay him, but he doesn't seem to be that kind of guy anymore. He would be a great veteran presence in the locker room. He isn't Al skill-wise, but he is exactly the kind of person you want around your young players.

He'd be great off the bench. Vet leadership, kinda like Posey.

He seems like he really wants to play here. He was also a 4 year starter at Boston College. I would've liked prime Dudley on this team, but even old-man Dudley would be good. He's also not scared to stick it to the Embiid's of the league

Dudley is akin to Indiana Pacers' Posey.

I see no good reason for any team to bring Dudley off the bench except devastating injuries. If a team is bad, use the minutes to develop young players who are just as bad. If the team is good, go find someone better.

As a lockerroom statesman/faux assistant coach I guess he can be fine, no idea - he is very well spoken, but I have my doubts about the veteran leadership a player as overweight as Dudley can provide. Seems weird that a guy who can't do something as basic as keeping himself in shape is pointed as an example for younger players.

Hey, he's nowhere near as inefficient as Indy Posey! ;D

if all we have left at the end of free agency is vet min contracts, why not?
he isn't a bad player, and would be a good influence on the young guys.

if he is 3rd or 4th off the bench he would probably help.

I wouldn’t mind Dudley on a minimum contract to round out the bench. He might have something to share with a guy like Grant Williams for how to defend NBA 4s at his size.

If we can rid of Yabu's salary, sure (not saying pay him that much, just the vet minimum). He's a JAG but has some leadership qualities, though his bball skills have slipped away...pretty much.

Once you are labeled 'the best' you want to stay up there, and you can't do it by loafing around.

Dudley has been trying to get back to Boston for years now. Maybe it will eventually happen this time.
