Ok had to kill sometime today while I waited for an appointment, the strip  mall I was in had a Toys R Us so I decided to walk around.  Wow, they still have alot of the toys I used to play with, got me wondering what you guys used to play with (not including video games):

85% of what I played with were GI Joes, had hundreds of them (and 99% of those were Joes, and the rest Cobras, didn't make for the greatest fake battles :P)

5% of what I played with were legos. Had mostly castle, town, and pirates.

5% of what I played with were WWF toys, had the wrestling figures, had the belts which I used to wear, had the wrestling buddies which I used to act out fake matches with, had all that good stuff.

4% of what I played with were Transformers.

1% the rest, probably made up of a couple of Ninja Turtles, He-Man, Nerf guns, those little green army men, etc.

One thing I never did though was mix and match my toys.  Only used GI Joes when playing with GI Joes, only used Transformers when playing Transformers, etc.  It never made any sense to me to have some adventure team of Snake Eyes, Hulk Hogan, Optimus Prime, Leonardo, and some plastic dinasour walking around together, or have GI Joe and the Ninja Turtles team up against the Decepticons, but it seemd a lot of my friends did this.  Did you guys?

Also I stayed true to the story lines: GI Joes and Autobots were always good guys, Cobras and Decepticons were always bad guys.  I would never change this up to even out the sides or make for better battles, even though most of what I had were the good guys.  But then I had friends who didn't even know who was who, so they didn't know the good guys from the bad guys. If they had 10 GI Joes/Cobras, they might just put 5 on one team and 5 on another.  I always thought you can't team up Joes and Cobras, that's so wrong!  What about you guys, were you the same or the opposite?

After 18 months with their Bigs, the Littles were: 46% less likely to use illegal drugs, 27% less likely to use alcohol, 52% less likely to skip school, 37% less likely to skip a class

I had so many of those WWF guys. My brother and I used to have one of those replica rings and we'd have a draft and do royal rumbles. The draft was always more fun than the actual action. My fav character was probably Giant Gonzalez. Guy scared the crap out of me.

Also had a Batman phase and a Power Rangers phase.

My first string toys were anything Star Wars, and GI Joe was second with a lot of He-Man.

Then as the decade progressed there were Transformers and some Gobots.

Played with most sports toys.

Not a lot of video games. The occasional bike.

Had my fair share of matchbox cars.

At one point I had my fair share of Hall of Justice Superheroes and villains.

Legos, Lincoln Logs, Playschool sets, plastic bowling set, Matchbox cars and tracks, wooden tool set, plastic cowboy gun, my owl doll (still have), penny collection, army and viking figures...

and when I got a little older all I needed was a pencil, a stack of paper, and my imagination to create statistical careers for fake baseball players.
Yup

  • You ain't the boss of the freakin' bedclothes.
my parents got my a 3ft tall paper mache/particle board castle when I was 3 years old. That kept me pretty busy during my indoor time.

Lots of good stuff back in the day.

Since we're the same age makes perfect sense.  For me, just substitute Robotech for Starcom and Thundercats for Wheeled Warriors lol.  Everything else is the same.

Star Wars, He-Man and GI Joe were the biggies...

  • Men lie, women lie, numbers don't!

If I wasn't a boy, I wouldn't have had anything to play with.
