Even though his new/old "Sports Huddle," the granddaddy of all sports talk shows, that entertained us with it's irreverence and topical humor in the early seventies and lead to the plethora of imitators that flood the radio dial from coast to coast, airs on 96.9 WTTK FM on Sunday nights from 7-10PM, directly opposite our own weekly shows, I would be remiss in not tipping my hat to the old master and giving a shout out for his famed "Hot Dog Safari" which raises millions of dollars for the "Joey Fund" and has become a local institution at Suffolk Downs.

19th ANNUAL HOT DOG SAFARI Eddie Andelman's 19th annual Hot Dog Safari to benefit Cystic Fibrosis/The Joey Fund is set to take place on Sunday, June 1, 2008, 9:00 AM - 4: PM at Suffolk Downs. Join the Hot Dog Safari's fundraising efforts to benefit Cystic Fibrosis/The Joey Fund. Ticket Prices are $12 per person, $15 at the door. Children ages 6 and under are free. Tickets are available at Sovereign Bank. They are available also at Kelley's Square Pub, Halfway Cafe (all five locations), Kowloon, and Fuddruckers.

One thing that Eddie has never forgotten is that sports are meant to be entertainment.

On our own entertainment schedule tonight will be the 6th game of the series with the Detroit Pistons.

Can the Celtics wrap this one up tonight? With Rip Hamilton a game time decision with elbow woes and Rasheed Wallace trying to get his foot out of his mouth, I'd say the Celtics have a good shot....not so much because of the physical and mental breakdowns of the above players, but because they are a better team and by now should have figured out what it will take to play with the consistency that has been missing this whole payoff season, the absence of which reared it's ugly head again, at the close of game 5.

Steve Bulpett has one aspect down pretty well in his column in this AM's Boston Herald :

How did it happen? ...take a look at the numbers. The Celts scored 12 points in the paint in the first quarter against the Pistons, 12 more in the second and 10 in the third. This strategy earned them leads as great as 17 and left them with an 84-71 edge entering the final frame.

There the Celtics suffered amnesia and scored just two points inside.

Doc has been harping on ball movement, pushing the pace, defense and taking it strong to the basket since the Atlanta series and when the team has responded they have won. Can't we expect the lesson to have finally sunk in?

So, what better way to enjoy the series clinching win than joining us tonight at the game's conclusion and then on Sunday heading down to Suffolk Downs to join Eddie and down a few hot dogs in celebration?
