I really liked Orien Greene.  I play PG so am a bit obsessed with watching and analyzing point guards.  I kind of knew that Marcus Banks would never pan out and I really liked something about Orien Greene (plus we had almost zero other viable options at that position that year).  He seemed to understand the game well for a rookie, had good height, and didn't take a lot of shots.  Had no idea he played 3 games for the Nets this past season.

Add in that he and I are both from Gainesville, FL and Greene was the Celtic that I was really rooting for.

Thomas Hamilton was the starting center at the first game i ever went to in person at the Garden/Fleetcenter.

Just checking some numbers on basketball-reference and I stumble across the '96-'97 Celts (with Stacey King on the roster) who went 15-67. I'd forgotten about that. Ouch.

Also, God Shammgod, what a name  ;D

How about Alaa Abdelnaby?  I remember he came to the Cs the same season they brought over Dino Radja and I got all excited (granted I was a teenager.)  Thought they had a new dynamic front line.  Didn't quite work out.

According to Wikipedia:
Abdelnaby is perhaps best known for his infamous quote regarding Duke University's academic requirements: "The only way I can make five A's is when I sign my name.

A lot of names that I was thinkin of when I first saw the title were already mentioned so Im gonna say Gerald Green man I was SO happy when we drafted him I thought he was gonna be a super star dude was a freak athlete nd had a good jumper but he had 0 work ethic nd mentally wasnt there it's a shame cuz if dude had the right mindset he would still be in the league

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Greg Kite!

Some others I can think of:
Shammond Williams
Xavier McDaniel
Kelvin Upshaw
Frank Brickowski
Ed Pickney & Joe Kleine (traded Danny for these legends)
Jerome Moiso

I guess that's true. Talent will get you a long way but work is golden. Just ask Bill, ask Mike, ask Larry, Magic, Timmy, ask Cooz.

Kevin Gamble,1988-'94...remember'd him being a warrior, especially during a period when Bird was injuried.

I was once seated with my wife right next to Kevin Gamble (and his wife or girlfriend) at Charley's.   I don't recall the year, but I know we were in the middle of the playoffs and playing the Pistons, because after trying not to look at the guy throughout the meal, I said "Beat Detroit" to him as he left.

Also met Hank Finkel in the 80's.  I was in grad school in a library conference room and the librarian brought this guy in to replace the casters on a table in the room.  I knew it was Hank the moment he walked in.  Uncomfortably, I eventually said "Are you Hank Finkel?" -- He acknowledged that he indeed was, and I shook his hand and said I had been a big fan of his (which I really was).

My favorite of those old C's mentioned in this thread is Arte 'Hambone' Williams.  Great sparkplug off the bench in the early 70's.  Loved his game.
