Do we know if Horford is playing? Without Smart and if we are without Horford then we would have no reason to win therefore I expect a win just like against the Clippers. He practiced without restrictions so he'll play i guess.
Cs after win vs Clips are in a Golden State of Mind.Love the Warriors movie reference. I did that on my son’s baseball team in a pre-game huddle against a team named the Warriors. We said that about 4-5 Times getting louder each time. Only one guy in the stand seemed to get it.
Warriors, come out and play-yay!
TP FLCs!
Go Cssss!!!!!
As long as they don't get blown out, I'll be impressed.

me too
Horford has been on point this game. Great job on both ends of the floor. When he's really aggressive, this team plays at their best. I hope he keeps that mindset.

Maybe we blow them out?

Draymond is already whining I see.

if we don't ....I'll punch a mirror
We're playing nicely, and forcing them to take jumpers. The sad thing is... Even if we win, people will say we're better off without Smart.
Rozier is lost on defense

Kyrie > Curry
Kyrie is unreal. Terrific to see.Gordon will help :D
However, the concerns remain the same. What do we do when he isnt in the game? And what happens when our field goal percentage falls back down to earth. What happens when we get into the bench?
Terrific start, but Im worried. Wont shoot like this all night.

BS call for Curry.yeah. He asked for it and got it.
Jaylen looks like a star tonight so far. Jeez.

Guys, Brown has hit four free throws in a row...
How about a timeout, Brad, or are we just going to let them continue this run until we're down?
Looking like the bad bench showed up tonight.
Well, we’re not down ;)How about a timeout, Brad, or are we just going to let them continue this run until we're down?
Guess that answers that... ::)
Team plays better without smart
This team was built for Hayward to be on the floor when Kyrie sits.

At some point, we have to. pivot away from that and figure something else out.
Ticks me off about Smart. He would've been so helpful tonight.

So Kyrie for 48 minutes then, yes?
Really need Tatum to get double digit points.

I'm just afraid Rozier will be "the one" we keep, and never amount to anything but a tease.

Sometimes I wish he had Morris' offensive aggression.

He'll get there as he gets older. Once Kyrie and Al declines, he will have to shoulder the chunk of offensive load

Have you been watching Rozier's [lack of] D on Curry? lol
If they shoot 47%? They have a chance.
Better yet Durant gets the flu at halftime and can't play.
What is Stevens record against the Warriors? Close to .500 anyways.

I sense Kyrie has 40+ points.
Question is can this defense keep it up. I fear Durant goes off this half.
Starters for starters Celts can keep up with them as crazy as that sounds. The bench is another story they worry the hell out of me if we lose it’s because of them.
Hmm can we win if we’re not coming from behind ??
Dumb turnovers.
Durant is a huge loser!!Can’t stand him
Curry is on tonightYea Tatum is invisible out there yea he’s a rookie but he’s gotta give them something
We need Tatum to show up before this is all over
It was just flat out unfair that Golden Stare got Durant.

These guys don't want to do it the right way, anymore.
Man, how much was Tatum simply playing over his head to start the season, especially his shooting?

He hit the wall.
Rozier flat out cannot guard Curry.
Thanks a lot, Marcus. I hope you're steaming mad at home watching a game that you were really needed in. (And this is from one of his biggest supporters on this blog! >:()
They'll lose this game as soon as Kyrie checks out there.
They miss Smart for sure.
Brown has to step up on that last shot by Curry. Rozier got picked off. Bad defense.
Still don't miss Smart. Curry is the greatest 3-point shooter of all time, if he's on he's on. Nobody on earth is gonna stop that.
Our worst basketball this game is happening with Terry on the floor. It's a shame we don't have a better guard option.

Of course you, won't. Curry never had a shooting clinic everytime Smart is on with him.

This is just crazy talk, especially after what Smart has done on these types of offensive superstars in his career (remember Harden earlier this season?).

Sure, but I'm still not convinced. Rozier is no slouch on defense. It's easy to say "No Smart = Curry lighting it up", but are we forgetting what Curry does to defensive superstars too?
Shane Larkin is a third string
It would be nice for the Celts to trade for a good backup PG

Smart is a lot better than Rozier on defense. Smart is one of the best defenders in the league at the guard spot. Terry Rozier isn't near that.
I know some can't believe it, but he also can pass and would help us there a lot. He also has had some good shooting games lately. He is missed.

Rozier has certainly improved defensively, but he still can't hold Smart's jockstrap defensively.
And, the Currys and Hardens of the world are Smart's absolute specialty, because they're not super quick or athletic. They get past their defenders with their crafty ballhandling, fakes/moves, and quick first step, which plays very well into Smart's elite BBIQ defensively. He reads perimeter defenders as well as any defender that I've seen, and his added size, length, and physicality is something that he provides above and beyond this.

If you think so, that's cool. I can understand if it was some scrub killin the C's but this is the greatest shooter in history. You just gotta live with that, and make someone else kill you.
Nothing like Al holding it for 15 seconds then taking a tough turnaround/fadeaway jumper.

YES. Thank you I thought I was alone...
****nit Al. How do you miss that?
5-point swing. painful miss on the tip
Marcus Morris has also been frustrating these last few minutes...
****nit Al. How do you miss that?
So many missed bunnies by him and Morris
If AL made the bunny...
no ball movement at all. terrible stupid shot decisions. kyrie trying to do too much. man move the **** ball

we had had crap posessions 3 straight trips down florr we aint winning this game finishing like this sorry

Those 3 important possessions in a row, Brown who has been our second best offensive player tonite is relegated to standing in corner with hands on knees. Need more ball movement and cutting there. Those possessions were horrible and killed momentum.5-point swing. painful miss on the tip

IT IS CALLED LOOKING AT WHOLE BOOK OF WORK. TRY IT SOME TIME. that crap play at end trying to take on 3 defenders doesnt mean he played bad this game overall. he runs too much ISO at bad times when we should be moving ball as a team. YOU CANNOT DENY THIS.
Win or lose, I'm now pretty confident we can take the Warriors to 7 games.
YET AGAIN WITH ANOTHER BLOWN CALL. HE WASN'T TRYING TO FOUL THERE AND CLEARLY DIDN'T!!
Rozier got some giant you know what's. What a shot.

Rozier > Smart
I wonder if having Hayward would have made a difference.
This has been a fantastic game. Just imagine if we had Hayward and Smart. I don't know if we make the finals this year, but next season it's gonna be an awesome matchup.
So our lost against the GSW in the last few seasons are:
- 2 OTs without Smart
- Blowout home court loss without Horford
- Nail biter without Smart
Yep. Not worried against the warriors. They are beatable as long as we can reach the finals.
Well, at least this game was promising after our recent poor streak. However, it's still frustrating that we have a player sitting at home who could've very well been the difference in this game. Curry doesn't go off like this on Smart, yet he couldn't play due to a dumb decision.

let's just get past the cavs and whoever first. we owe lebron for 2012. i won't count last two times we lost to lebron and cavs in playoffs as we did not have a shot including last years ECF

WOW Klay Thompson held to just 7 points tonight, KD with 20.
But Curry went OFF for them.
I've never been more confident that we could beat the Warriors in a 7 game series.

With GH and somebench additions they can hang and even beat the Warriors
Great game, shame we lost! I think those two missed layups by Horford decided the game. After that Steph hit that three and layup... shame, but go Celtics on to the next one!

Yeah, I'm fairly confident that we win this one with Smart. He's by far the best option we have in guarding someone like Curry.

This. Although to be fair, I'm still not that confident. C's have held Durant and Thompson in check for 2 straight games.
Imagine having someone like a Lou Williams coming off the bench for this team. That'd be huge for us, and I would think he's fairly attainable via the DPE and LAC pick, too.
Imagine having someone like a Lou Williams coming off the bench for this team. That'd be huge for us, and I would think he's fairly attainable via the DPE and LAC pick, too.
I don't think he will be available. Clippers in playoff hunt and Pelicans could drop a bit in standings too.
I think Tyreke Evans is the ideal target but idk what it would take to get him.
Not putting the sole blame on him, but I also think Tatum's struggles really hurt us.
He shot 2-9, and missed some wide open shots in the 4th quarter as well.
But obviously he's young and hitting the rookie wall now, so I'm not concerned and still think he will have an extremely bright future.
Also, am I the only one who gets frustrated seeing Morris just jack up a lazy looking bad shot (especially a long 2 or a 3 while covered) acting like he's Curry... seemed like he did that quite a bit tonight as well. Shot 5-15 tonight.

I would rather have him take the shot rather than be indecisive and then try to dribble into traffic and lose the ball. I am generally happy with Morris shot results as he has kept us in some games by making shots.

Yeah I’m not mad about Morris taking shots because in the 2nd unit, we barely score as is. His iso isn’t the problem. It’s the whole unit being offensively poor that’s the problem.
I’m not a fan of Morris’ team defense though. Individually, on-ball, he’s solid. It’s when he needs to help where it’s a problem.

If Smart wasn't injured I'd seriously consider assigning Tatum to the G-League for a game or 2, just to give him a boost of confidence and get out of the funk he's in.

I think Tyreke is the guy too. Memphis is in tank mode now with Conley going down for the season. We may be able to get him without using the DPE. You can send Yabu + the 2019 MEM 1st, then save the DPE for buyout season (Hi Greg Monroe). That would be my angle.

He's already proven that he belongs here. Just let him work it out.

Its not a demotion. It works for baseball players, why not for the NBA? Even in other competitions, some players in slumps perform better when they play against lower competition and dominate.
Of course I'm not saying this is the right course of action, and that it will most likely happen, but it can work. Give him a free reign like Donovan Mitchell has and get more reps.
I agree with letting Jayson play through the bumps but when it's obvious he doesn't have it or lost his courage in big games then just don't play him as much.

The G league that’s crazy?
The bench, maybe. But even that I’m not convinced. I think a minutes reduction would definitely help him though
I don't think the Warriors ever for a moment thought the outcome was in doubt. A series might be a 5 game gentleman's sweep.Hard to see how that would be the case, given we were up by 10 points before a couple of absolutely brutal stretches by our bench - highlighted by us scoring 36 points in the second and third quarter combined.

I definitely disagree with your first sentiment, but not with the second. I've never been more confident in our ability to beat them, but it doesn't mean we'd be favorites.
Their flex half-court offense was not working. When we slowed down their game, they were forced into pick-and-roll heaves. Granted, Curry is the best at those, but there are even tweaks we could do to get them off the 3 point line there.
That's the second game in a row that our wings have held Thompson and Durant in check. I don't think we can stop them, but it does seem like we have a beat on what they are trying to do -- and we are making them uncomfortable when they are doing it.
After that, the only player in the NBA who can go toe-to-toe with Curry is Irving.
Really want to see this type of effort on Tuesday
This is why Hayward was so important. As good as Tatum is, rookies have a tendency to be inconsistent at times.
Either way, you have to be encouraged that it looks like the celtics are right there with the warriors. I think we are a year away. You add hayward, and another year of development for Brown/tatum we match up very well
I just watched the last quarter of the Warriors game replay on NBA TV.
One thing I noticed was Tatum had zero shots the last 8 minutes, and DNP the last 5 minutes (except for a few seconds at the end). Irving kept them in the game with some miracle layups.
How can your best shooter not take any shots in such a close game? The answer is he was not set up to take any shots. When he got the ball, he was moving and passed it off to others. He was never in a position to shoot--from a screen, for example.
If you want to look for problems with the Celtics offense, one place is Tatum. He has the best shooting % stats on the team, and isn't getting set up for enough shots. Especially those corner 3 pointers.
The game last night ended in a shootout between Irving and Curry. That's not the traditional Celtics way.
Not to mention the 3 three pointers he took in the 2nd half weren't even close to going down. He was playing lousy on the offensive end.I just watched the last quarter of the Warriors game replay on NBA TV.

Did you actually watch the game? He had several shot opportunities and he passed them up, indecisive and timid and after given the opportunity and he passed it up he tried to make up for it and tried to drive into traffic and ultimately losing the ball. He should have sat much earlier in this game because he didn't have it. You could tell he was actually afraid to shoot.
