The players I believe deserve it the most:

Kyrie - Oladipo - Kawhi - Giannis - Embiid (one each from the top 5 teams)

Steph - Harden - LeBron - Durant - Davis

The players I actually voted for:

Simmons starting is criminal

He's averaging 16-9-8 and shooting 58% from the floor for one of the top 3 teams in his conference.

I didn't vote for him (I've got Walker and Oladpio ahead of him and maybe Lowry too) but I completely understand the vote.

I really don't get how people think it is impressive to shoot 58% because you have taken one shot further than 14 feet all season.

Ben Simmons:

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Because 58% is a high percentage.

Obviously his never taking long range shots is a problem but 58% is a still an efficient number for even the shots he takes.

Simmons to me is basically Tall Rondo except it doesn't feel as though he's nearly as integral to his team's success as Rondo was in 09/10/11.

Regarding Simmons, some Philly folks are starting to sour on him. Apparently he pads his stats against bad and mediocre teams and against the Elite teams he's a liability.

100% agree with Philly fans on that. You only need to watch him against us to witness how weak he can be

Pretty sure the DeAndre Jordans and Hassan Whitesides of this world have similar efg% also as a result of never shooting jumpers ever. Nobody thinks of them as offensive juggernauts because of that, so why make an exception for Ben Simmons?

I'm guessing it's because he's a perimeter player and has to create those shots, which is far more valuable than a center being spoon fed (I haven't got stats nor can I bear to watch any non-Celtic teams, just guessing)

There are still plenty of players who get little 'spoon feeding' with similar percentages and similar amounts of PPG. Siakam with his 15ppg is one. Enes Kanter is another (less than half of his shots are assisted). Then there are guys like Giannis, LeBron, AD, KD, Vucevic and other 20+ scorers who shoot above 50%. Those guys are much more impressive than stat-padding Simmons.

I agree Simmons is what you get if you trade Rondos intensity and competitiveness for a half foot of height. Rondo had great vision and was smart and all that but what made him good was his edge, I don't see that with Simmons, when it's easy he's unstoppable when it's difficult they play 4v5 on offense.

It's amazing to me how similar their games are other than the fact that they show up to different games, if it's a big game Rondo is going all out and very often looks like the best player on the court, where as if philly is playing scrubs on a Tuesday night in February I expect Simmons to have a monster triple double with multiple highlight plays. When he plays the Celtics I get excited when they check him back into the game cause I know the Celts are going to go on a run.
