God Pierce was awful on offense tonight - good thing we didn't need him.

KG, it's about time!  We won a close one.  I like it!

I liked Doc's defensive subbing at the end there.  also I thought Sam was gong to stay all the way.  Doc bet correctly and put Sam back in.  Was nervous when he pulled Posey out and had both Ray and Paul for a while.

So is even one of Sam's detractors going to admit that they just might be wrong?

Sam, Rajon, Posey, Perk and Garnett were the whole team tonight. The whole ****g team.

We had something to do with LeBron's bad night but he was way, way off tonight and we should consider ourselves lucky to have hung on to this with such a horrible effort from Pierce, Allen, Powe, Brown, and Baby.

If the whole team comes to play, this will be a whole lot easier.

What a relief.

I really thought this game was lost when we could not create any space between us and them in the third.  I thought for sure that LB would start making baskets and/or going to the line.  Our D held tough and we got a few breaks.

This was a Houdini escape but would have been a Cavs steal had they won. Both teams struggled and both teams played solid D.  I am surprised we won but very very relieved.  My old heart can't take another like this on Thursday so I am praying for a Hawk-like home game.

Ray/Pierce - 2-18 from the field, 0-6 from downtown, 10 turnovers

LeBron - 2-18 from the field, 0-6 from downtown, 10 turnovers

............

Ray/Pierce - 4 points, 9 boards, 5 assists

LeBron - 12 points, 9 boards, 9 dimes, 1 block, 1 steal

................

Those numbers are freaky. Ugly games for all three but I'll take Ray+Paul canceling out LeBron every day.

That was a very good win for the Celtics. They scrapped hard and beat the Cavs on the glass. They stayed tough in the fourth and hit some big shots, thank you Sammy and KG. The defense tonight was superb on LeBron James and the Cavs in general.

Perk was great on the boards tonight with 12 rebounds. We need another solid series from Perk.

Some of the bad things I didn't like tonight:

(1) This is exactly the type of series Cleveland want. Keep it close and win/lose on Bron's heroics in the fourth. Keep the scores low, make it scrappy so that their weaker supporting cast can hang in against a team with a lot more firepower.

(2) Doc and the players treated Ray Allen like a piece of garbage.

Only four shots in 37 minutes? Are you kidding me? He got open on every screen they ran him off in the first quarter. Wally can't stick with him. Call a few plays for the man and get him going. This is bush league from his teammates and Doc/Rondo/Sam primarily. Just terrible.

(3) Paul Pierce can't let LeBron James get in his head. So many forced drives, forced shots, unneccessary turnovers. He did a terrible job of staying within the team offensively tonight. Pierce needs to get it together.

(4) Cut down the turnovers. You've got three very good scorers and a good supporting cast. Execute offense and get good shots. The Cavs can't keep it close if you can do that well.

Perk played 35 minutes. That alone is huge. Loved his D and work on the boards. Provided a nice presence inside.

  • You know my methods, Watson.
Who - Ray Allen has to get OPEN...the guy is moving slow out there.  i mean, it's pretty sad when wally can hang with him.  face it, he's showing his age, and i believe the season is catching up to him.

we need to face the facts on ray allen - he's an aging player that is on the downside of his career - we've watched him get older before our very eyes this season.
