For starters I don't think it's a priority to trade Rozier. We have a team assembled that can win it all. Rozier provides luxury depth, insurance for injuries and an escape if Irving decides to leave (which I really don't think so).
However, the demand for Rozier may never be higher than it is right now, since his role will diminish now that everybody is injury-free. A team that's looking for a good PG is Orlando. Morris is another guy who's minutes will be eaten and might get disgruntled. But maybe Orlando has more interest in a prospect like Yabusele? I'd be willing to throw in a pick to get Jonathan Isaac. He's got a lot of potential. Trading Morris and Rozier would get the Celtics out of the luxury tax.
Proposal:
To Boston: Jonathan Isaac
To Orlando: Terry Rozier, Marcus Morris or Guerschon Yabusele, '19 Celtics 1st or '19 Clippers 1st (prot.)

I think that ship has sailed. Isaac was deadly in summer league. Can’t see Orlando having any interest in trading him. Probably value him more at this point than Bamba for their future.

I wasn't aware of his achievements during summer league. I just really liked him from last year's draft. He came to my mind while I was looking for a young cheap player with potential who could be a nice return for Rozier and Rozier makes a lot of sense for Orlando. Maybe increase the bid.
Or what about Hernangomez (Denver)?

After signing Smart, I would consider trading Rozier for a promising big. I don't know to what degree Issac qualifies as that as I have not seen him play all that much. I don't see why we would need to offer more than Rozier + Yabusele; no Morris, no picks.
-
I have been pushing a Rozier for Isaac trade for a while - if we are trading Rozier - which is risky and a bummer since I probably like him a little more than Smart. I assume we would also sign Bird to hopefully semi-replicate the 15 or so minutes we need out of Rozier.
The deal makes all the sense in the world, but Orlando doesn’t seem too pressed to acquire a quality PG as they wouldn’t even take the IT show for low cost/risk.

Isaac is way more valuable than Rozier and scraps.
No shot Orlando even entertains this

Actually think the opposite. Isaac has proven nothing. Rozier led a team to the brink of the Finals. You need a lot more than Isaac. Lol...

Doesn’t matter what he has “proven”. He is probably their most coveted player now. Several podcasts said he was the best player in summer league by far.
He is not getting moved. Let it go.

IMO, Isaac is poised for a soph year breakout, whereas Rozier is poised for leveling off. ::)
In any case, Orlando is not trading Isaac.

Completely agree. Isaac is just entering his 2nd season and has way more upside than Rozier.

Yeah Isaac played really well in summer league. I like his tools, and he could make a nice leap in his game. Could be a high level role player kind of like Smart. I’m not sure Orlando would let him go, but they really like Rozier too. Interesting trade idea. Rozier and Morris are more proven players so maybe Orlando has to throw in something else.

Several podcasts. Ok man. He played 27 freaking games last year. I like him fine but Rozier is a top-10ish PG..

Rather send Rozier the Kings pick and Yabu for Bamba.

Would you have traded Terry Rozier for the #1 overall pick this year? that pick had proved nothing.

ask yourself, if you were Sacramento, would you do that deal?
no shot.

Considering Bamba isn’t on Sacramento, it does pose a problem.

these bottom feeders all blend together. Orlando's pretty much been Eastern Sacramento since Dwight left anyway.

I really like Rozier but I would pull the trigger on Roz/Yabu/pick for Isaac.
All day erryday.

Ok, fine, well, let's just trade for Anthony Davis then. ;D

I wouldn't do this. I was all for consolidating assets, including the Sacto pick, to move up in the draft and get Carter Jr and Jackson Jr, both of whom look a lot better than Bamba IMO. I'm not trading the Sacto pick now for the runt of the lottery big man litter.

Not sure where all this is coming from on Isaac being a summer league megastar. He shot 13 for 37. That's flat out awful. Other than the game where he had a bunch of blocks, I didn't see a whole lot. He still can't shoot the 3 (but still keeps shooting it). His offensive game looks no more sophisticated than what we might expect from Williams.

Yeah, I watched the Orlando-Phoenix game with a glut of NBA bigs- Ayton, Bamba, Isaac & Bender and Ayton looked the best, with Isaac probably 2nd best, but he didn't do much of anything on offense. I'd be tempted to do this deal, but I'm not sold on Isaac.

C's Wiz Kings
PF Labissiere Pf Morris Pf Smith
PG Mason III Pf Yabusele
Celtics 1st rnd pick this year
Release Purvis Resign Bird
Celtics under lux tax

Won't the Magic just be able to sign Rozier to a contract if they want him instead of trading their best young piece?

He is a very poor offensive player. Last year he had 93 points per 100 possessions - in the 3d percentile for big men. He keeps taking long 2s, even though he misses a lot of them. When he attacks closeouts, he often can't finish - he picks up the ball early and takes those long strides. It looks great when he's getting by his man, but then he doesn't have the leg or core strength to finish strong and he misses a lot or gets blocked.
His defense, at least, isn't bad, but he does not have the body to bang with real bigs.
He might develop into a good player, or he might not. I wouldn't give up much for him now.

Magic will have to sign Rozier to an offer sheet. Rozier is a restricted free agent next year

This. I don't know if we had a shot at Carter, but I would have given up the Kings pick to get him. I think Carter is going to be a Horford-like player, and would slot in beautifully next to Tatum and Brown - for four cost-controlled years. (JJJ was also on my list, but I figured he would be even more expensive.)
If the Kings pick lands 2-5 next year I probably won't be too disappointed, but still, Carter looks very good.
