  • A true Celtic plays with heart.
This is an admittedly odd/unrealistic scenario, but I have a certain affinity for this lineup:

Marcus Smart
Klay Thompson
Jaylen Brown
Gordon Hayward
Anthony Davis

Presumably in this scenario Irving and Horford both bailed, we acquired Davis for Tatum, Yabusele, Williams, Ojeyele and all of our 2019 1st rounders, and Thompson was signed with cap room (shrug).

We couldn't sign Klay Thompson with cap room. That is just feasibly not possible unless we get rid of Hayward/Horford/ and Kyrie.

The complications that we would need to go through to sign Klay would be astronomically detrimental to our team.

We're better off trying to see if KD wants to come to BOS, as Klay is 99.99% not leaving GSW.

I do think Klay would be like 27-28 PPG here, and would probably end up in the top 7 of MVP rankings if placed in the right situation.

Ok here we go...

3 team deal with NOP and CLE
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y5matouh

BOS Receives: Davis, Thompson

NOP Receives: Tatum, Smith, Nance Jr., #14 2019, #22 2019, MEM 2020, BOS 2020

CLE Receives: Hayward

Re-sign Kyrie to a 5 year max. Horford opts out and is re-signed for 3 years 60mil. Baynes opt out to go to another team. Morris, Rozier, Wannamaker, Theis and Gibson are all let go. Bring up Dozier on a 4 year rookie contract. Keep RJ Hunter as a 2-way player.

Draft Cameron Johnson or Nassir Little at #20, Shamorie Ponds at #53.

Sign Isaiah Thomas and Jared Dudley to veteran minimums, and Danny Green to the MLE.

Irving/Smart/Brown/Horford/Davis
Thomas/Green/Dudley/Ojeleye/Thompson
Ponds/Dozier/Johnson or Little/Yabusele/Williams

I came up with another one:

3 team deal with NOP and MIA
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y6lh3aqm

BOS Receives: Davis, Olynyk

NOP Receives: Tatum, Anderson, #13 2019, #14 2019, MEM 2020, Boston 2020

MIA Receives: Hayward

Re-sign Kyrie to a 5 year max. Horford opts out and is re-signed for 3 years 60mil. Rozier, Wannamaker, Theis and Gibson are all let go.

Draft Kevin Porter Jr. at #20, Tyler Herro at #22, and Ignas Brazdeikis at #53.

Sign Isaiah Thomas to veteran minimum, and Marcus Morris to the MLE.

Irving/Smart/Brown/Horford/Davis
Thomas/Porter Jr./Morris/Olynyk/Baynes
Herro/Brazdeikis/Ojeleye/Yabusele/Williams

Not trying to sound rude, but that has got to be one of the worst lopsided trades I've ever seen in this blog...

My ideal team would be Kyrie stays, we trade for Davis and Hayward returns to All Star form and Al gives us a discount.   I imagine this will take picks, Smart, Tatum and Brown to make happen.

My realistic team is Irving walks, Al Stays and we lose out on AD.    Rozier is left to walk or a minor sign and trade and we are stuck with the picks and have to go the Youth movement but keep Tatum and Brown.

Ideal team (though unlikely, not impossible):

Irving/Wanamaker/Caruso
Smart/Brown/Hunter
Durant/Hayward/Dozier
Davis/Ojeleye/Samanic
Baynes/O`Quinn/Theis

Trade:
Tatum + Williams + Yabusele + Rozier(S+T) + #14 + #20 + Memphis pick for Davis
Horford + Morris(S+T) for Durant(S+T)

Draft: #22 Samanic
Sign: O`Quinn(MLE), Caruso
Re-sign: Wanamaker, Theis, Dozier, Hunter

Realistic, right? Realistic teams?!?!

I am usually an optimist, but when I just take a look at the totality of what went down last year and look at the likelihoods of a lot of things going on around the league, the less positive I feel about Kyrie and Davis being here next year.

Realistic:

Starters:
Smart
Brown
Tatum
Hayward
Baynes

Bench:
Williams
Morris
Ojeleye
1sr round pick
1st round pick
MLE Player
Player pick up in Horford trade
Player picked up in Horford trade

Rozier, Irving, Theis, Wanamaker all walk.
Morris re-signs
Baynes opts in.
Horford opts in and requests a trade and Danny trades him getting back a couple players and a 1st rounder
Yabusele is dumped.

The rebuild continues. Sigh!!!!☹️
This team could be in NBA purgatory(complete mediocrity) for a decade if Brown and Tatum don't take major, major leaps forward in their games in the next 2-3 years.

This is probably going to happen which is why I stopped taking this serious. 😕

Realistic - semi rebuild

Trade
To Phoenix Suns: Hayward, 14th, 22 pick
To Celtics:  Tyler Johnson (19M),  Alex Len (4.1M), trade exception, Hawks 8th, 10th picks
To Atlanta Hawks: Suns 6th pick,  Josh Jackson

Celtics draft
8th pick Brandon Clarke, 10th pick Reddish, 20th pick ?

Celtics lineup

C  -  Horford
PF - Clarke
SF - Tatum
SG - Brown
PG - Smart

Bench
C  - Len
PF - Robert Williams
F  - Semi
G - Reddish
G - Johnson
FA signing - Beverley?

couldn't use trade machine because Johnson has a player option. But if he opts in (almost certain). Does these trades check out?
