My friend who is a Sixers fan asked me today:

“Which Celtics role player from the 2000s (i.e. 2000-2010) would you add to the 2020-2021 Celtics if you could?”

I struggled mightily with an answer and said Wally Szczerbiak because he would be a good role player in today’s NBA. Although he wasn’t a role player when he was on the C’s. Other legitimate role players that came to mind: Tony Allen and James Posey.

Help me out here!

Posey or AB. AB had a little more offense than TA. Always like Eddie House as well.

Wrong decade for AB.

Probably Posey would fit best, but I have a soft spot for Delonte.

Wasn't sure if 10-11 would get exception given it was part of that big 3 run. Feels like it should be.

I hated Walter because he reminded me of Ben Wallace. I loved Ben Wallace in summer league. When I first saw Walter on the C's I thought Wallace was back. Then I realized it wasn't Wallace I was so mad. Stuck with me every time he was in a game I thought back on Wallace.

Posey would be awesome. He is exactly what this bench most needs. A combo forward who can play tough D, help on the boards and space the floor well on offense. A strong competitor and veteran leader.
