Don't look now, but the Lakers are only 5 games back of the 8-seed out west, which would mean a 0% chance of a top-5 pick in this years draft.

The three teams that stand between them and the playoffs are The Pelicans sans Boogie, The Clippers sans Blake, and The Jazz sans anyone not named Gobert.  The Lakers really seem to be hitting their stride, and I think it's at least more probable at this point that they make the playoffs than it is that they slide back 5 games and overtake that 5th-from-the-bottom spot in the league.

All that is to say, looks like we need to close the book on Bagley, Doncic, Ayton, Bamba, Porter, and Young and start looking ahead to RJ Barrett, Bol Bol, and Cam Reddish.

If we can’t get the pick I’ll be rooting for the Lakers to make the playoffs. We don’t need the Sixers getting a lottery pick.

I think they will take a bit hit by losing Nance and Clarkson. Clarkson particularly was huge for them in their wins. I just don't see IT off the bench having much of a positive impact for them the rest of this season.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

Having IT there will make that at least somewhat bearable

That includes a 7.6% chance of it being the #1 pick which would mean the Sixers keep it.

See.  Every silver lining has a touch of grey.   ;D

Yeah, but in that scenario, the Lakers will have given up a #1 pick. That would be crushing to the Laker fan base. Well, that is unless they get Lebron....

Um we still have our own 1st, which has interesting prospects in that range. I really want Mitchell Robinson.

The Lakers don’t get the pick no matter what. It’s Philly or us.

Me too. Doubt he’s available by then though.

What can we possibly get with our own 1st? Another Nader? I don't want another Nader nor do I want the one we have. Let's close the book on this draft because the Lakers are sticking it to us.

Nader was the 58th pick in the draft. Our 1st will be between 27-29.  It’s not the same thing.

Right. The correct guy to lament is JaJuan Johnson.

The problem with possibly having 4 picks in next year's draft is that it looks like it may be one of the worst ever. There may be a couple of good athletes at the top but after that.....oy! Makes me now wish that Bagley Jr. had stayed in HS this year.
