Welp, perhaps the Lakers aren't as good as many people have made them out to be. They've really, really struggled against the top teams, especially in the East. They're way too top heavy, and they don't seem to play any defense, like at all.
I wonder why they would. Their leader hasn’t played defence for 3 years.
Shouldn't AD be their leader on defense?
I more meant their de facto captain
Lebron is an easy target around here.  AD should be the one to lead their defense.

Oh boy. What's so confusing about his statement? Their leader (Lebron) hasn't played defense for 3 years. Someone else might be their leader in defense, but you cannot hold guys accountable if your overall leader doesn't play defense himself. Clear now?
Lebron has a defense rating of 103.2 this season.  Hard to do that without playing any defense.  Whereas there's a love-fest around here for Luka who has a defense rating of 111.4.
So Enes Kanter is better than Marcus Smart? Jokic is better than Jerami Grant? Derrick Jones is better than Jimmy Butler? Using vanilla defensive rating is really not at all a valid way to try and determine whether or not someone is good at defence.
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Did I say it was?  I just used it to counter the nonsensical "Lebron hasn't played defense in 3 years" statement.  Lots of players coast on defense during the regular season.  No one has earned more of a right to do so than Lebron.  Expecting a 35 year old player with all the mileage he has on his body (almost 48k MP in the regular season plus 10k in the playoffs) to be a good defender routinely is not realistic.  Plus he's carrying a huge offense load.  To top it off, this was his 5th game in 8 days on an East coast road trip.

Lol, you said it's hard to put up a respectable DRTG "without playing any defence". Go ahead and split the hair there and say you didn't imply there's a link ::)

That's a completely different story. Now you're openly admitting he coasts and that he isn't a good defender routinely. What exactly is your point? Weirdly defensive of Bron

If Schroder keeps this up he's going to steal 6th man of the year from Lou Williams.  Seems he must be averaging like 25 points per game...(didn't look it up).

Not too far off - 19PPG, with 4 assists and 4 rebounds. He's still a pretty bad defender though.

Compare that to Lou, who is averaging 20PPG, 6APG and 3RPG, with similarly bad defence, yet on a better team. I think Montrezl Harrell might be a big threat to win the award this year. Rose & Ibaka are also good off the bench, although Ibaka has started a fair amount of games.

Ah.  If he's only at 19 per game he must not have started the season so well.  Lately he's been pouring it on... Yes, Harrell probably should get it as long as his season continues as is...

I don't think Luka gets enough credit for how well he has played this season.

29.1ppg 9.6rpg 9.1apg on a 59.4% TS%

The engine on a team that is on track to break the All-Time offensive rating with a mark of 117.6 points per 100 possessions which would best the Warriors marks of recent years, the Nash Suns teams & the Magic Lakers teams of the 80s.

People went crazy when Nash led those offenses in Phoenix. He had Amare and Marion next to him. Porzingis has done well but has he played as well as either one of those guys? Nevermind both?

What Doncic has done so far this year is incredible.

He deserves MVP consideration.
I'm certainly going crazy over him lol, I absolutely think he's MVP material (it also helps that he's a neutral to slightly positive defender).
Jaylen Brown for All-NBA

What is with the showboating after a dunk when you are down 10pts in the 4th quarter?

You can't showboat when you are losing!

Elfrid Payton and Jae Crowder got into it with 48 secs left. Crowder was pushed by Payton while attempting a 3 iirc. Morris pushed Morant

Lulz both of these are former Celtics.

But yes, gotta agree with Morris here. Jae Crowder is soft. Will never forget how he and LeBron James injured Gordon Hayward back in 2017 like a dirty scum he is. Deserved to get shoved by Payton for trying to run up the score.

Morris has already tweeted an apology for being a sexist cretin.

A sexist? I mean yeah those words a bit much? But let's not go around accusing everyone a sexist in the heat of the moment?

That's funny.  Heat of the moment is what he blamed it on.  Problem is heat of the moment reveals a person's true character.

He may not be a sexist in that perhaps he was making a regrettable joke or didn’t realize what he was blurting out or maybe does many things that are the antithesis of sexist. But in all honesty, I think it’s hard to deny that his comments were sexist in nature.  You can make sexist comments and not be a terrible person.  But pointing out that the comments were sexist isn’t wrong.

We all say things that we regret, that doesn't make us bad people or "reveal our true character" otherwise we might as well be all racist and sexists.
