The Suns are in the process of buying out veteran center Tyson Chandler to make Chandler a free agent, league sources tell @NYTSports

Tyson Chandler is an LA native and the Lakers' need for interior depth and defensive reinforcements is well known. Chandler is earning $13.6 million this season, which suggests he will clear waivers easily and be able to pick his next team

Chandler is well past his best. And the Lakers needs shooters and perimeter defenders more than anything. Seeing them blowing leads constantly is a concern.

It's not a great fit for the Lakers but Chandler can defend and rebound, two things the Lakers need.

Not for me. I hope they blow every lead they have all year.

Lakers have no back up center. Chandler is a nice move for them for 15 minutes a game at that slot and in the locker room.

Hey another non-shooter old man going to the Lakers to make them worse.

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson

Now both their centres have championship experience too

Yeah, they've got Lebron, Rondo, Chandler, and McGee all with Championship experience.

Ha. I wonder what the dynamic is like considering LeBron & Rondo both played against Walton and likely didn't respect him as a player. I know that plenty of guys who didn't even play make it as coaches, but I feel like it could make for some weird respect issues

Tyson Chandler is still a very good rebounder but he doesn't have much impact on defense anymore. More of a neutral defender than a plus defender. Limited offensive game.

Tyson would've been the 3rd/4th string center behind Baynes and Theiss here. The Lakers are more desperate for big man help. He'll offer them more. Give them a useful backup center. Good choice to go there instead of here where he would've played less.
