Wojnaroski just reporting Butler to 76ers for a package including Saric and Covington back to Wolves. 76ers also get Justin Patton and receive a 2nd round pick.

TP for beating me to it.  That's a nice trade for the Sixers.  Even if Butler leaves in the offseason, they aren't losing too much and they'll have even more cap space.

Let's see how me meshes with Embid and Simmons. Though on paper you would think it would be a decent match.  Their 3 point shooting however suffers in the short run.  Basically they have Reddick meaning they become a little easier to defend out there.

They need to make more moves.

  • I'm a Paul Heyman guy.
On paper, it looks like a bad return for Minnesota, but I look at it as how that team will fit, and I kind of like it.

Covnington brings in 3PT shooting and defense, and if they use him properly, Dario Saric can finally be unleashed and be that point forward type of player that he has been known coming into the draft.

I kind of like it.

I hate to say it but that is an excellent trade for the Sixers. Covington and Saric are good but adding Butler takes them to the next level. Not a lot to give up IMO.

I still believe we have the better roster, however we really need to get it together soon... the division (and conference) have gotten a lot tougher.

Now the 76ers are instant contenders on the same line with Toronto, Milwaukee, and Boston

On paper they look scary, but I dont know how Butler would fit here.

Simmons and Embiid are already ball dominant players, adding another one might kill their ball movement. And Butler also has a habit of calling out teammates when things don't go his way, and if this happens in Philly, it could be trouble.

If Butler thought KAT was soft, what do you think he is going to do to Fultz?

Yeah, I question his fit there. He didn’t like being around younger players who take a different approach than him - is he going to fit around an even younger team with the happy-go-lucky Embiid and fragile Fultz?

Also, they’re going to be the worst shooting team from distance in the league, and I think it’s highly unlikely that the trio of Butler, Embiid, and Simmons functions well together, as all work best with the ball in their hands. I see Butler leaving for greener pastures next summer.

So do they go Fultz, Redick, Butler, Simmons, and Embiid? Yikes at the shooting, and it takes their major size advantage away and puts them around average for size now.
