I read it as well

But saw this today

Quote
Boston Celtics fans received a scare on Wednesday when reports surfaced that All-Star Kristaps Porzingis could miss the FIBA World Cup due to injury. But those reports may not be entirely accurate.
Celtics

On Thursday, the Latvijas Basketbola savienība (Latvian Basketball Association, or LBS) addressed the reports on Porzingis’s health through a statement.

“There has been information that questions the participation of Kristaps Porzingis in the FIBA World Cup,” LBS wrote, as translated through Google Translate. “LBS denies this information.”

He has a brutal injury list but foot does not come up on it as a past injury unless it's an ankle

Come home Kristaps, we can’t afford a Gallinari part 2- but this time with a much more integral player and far less depth.

If he's out for the season then this season is done with this team

They can't win without him?

They had a team good enough to win last year without him. Only lost Smart. I would think they are still good enough to win a title minus Porzingis.

They should require every NBA player to wrap themselves in bubble wrap in the off-season, especially $100M-plus earners.

Obviously, players need to stay in shape and work on their game. But as for high level competition I’d rather they sit out.

perhaps the OP can change the thread title to reflect the situation more accurately.
I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

I maintain that Red abused the rest of the league so badly with his brilliant draft picks and trades that we are now paying back karma to the basketball gods. Move the team is right. Things have been cursed since the '86 title and the heist of the #2 draft pick, which of course turned out to be Len Bias, the perfect addition for that team. Even Garnett's team was hit by his knee injury which cost them winning multiple titles .........
(along with the 4th quarter of 2010 and Danny's idiotic decision to trade Perk in 2011).

Russell - Cowens - Bird - Garnett

The Four Celtic Lieutenants:

Sparz tends to hit the panic button a bit early, last season he also had the same reaction when Payton Pritchard was injured to start the season

Zinger is our third best player and without him who do we depend on to stretch the floor and be our paint presence. Horford age caught up and Timelord don't look durable for an entire season. C's don't have Smart to hold down the fort this year. No Muscala and Gallo. The state of the East still pretty decent. Even if the C's sneak into the Finals do they have the bodies to stop Jokic?

And I never panicked over PP last year  >:(

In hindsight I should have put a question mark after the title.
The whole situation seems a bit shady, however, as Latvia wants him to play, and the C's are not wanting their new shiny piece to get hurt.  The C's also, in my opinion, have been less than forthcoming about players injuries in the past, which also gives me concern.
They have been a little obscure about O Brisset's knee injury as well.
Would just, for once, like to have a completely healthy team to begin the season!  One that looks like a really good shot at #18!  Go C's!!

The same thing could be said of Porzingis and Al with his age

I think we ought to sign Christian Wood or Oubre for insurance.   I don't know if Joe could make him play D though.   But signing him or Oubre makes more sense with these injuries.

Definitely true.
