still looking for a reason why Houston would want anyone in deal for Capela. the premise of Houston trading him is to free up cap space to sign Butler as a FA. sending them Smart defeats that purpose. if the goal is to have Houston reroute Smart to Philly, no way I want Smart playing for Philly. Certainly not for Capela who I think is overrated.
Houston can't sign Butler as a free agent. They have to do a sign and trade. The thought being that Philly wouldn't want Capela, so he would be routed to a 3rd team that would have a more appealing player or a draft pick that could be sent to Philly. Smart would absolutely make more sense to Philly than Capela would. Thus, that is why that component of the larger trade makes some deal of sense.
