Wouldn’t he want to identify a team who can compete for a championship while also providing him an oppty to get significant minutes?

Isn’t the only team that can provide this the Celtics?

He tried this last work and seemingly everybody on his team except him went down in the playoffs (so no ring).

I would imagine Cousins could still be in the market for a 'prove-it' deal, but that it will be more in line with what JJ Redick did a couple of years ago. Get a huge one-year contract from a desperate team with cap space (the Knicks) and see how it works out. The dude has to go for the money if it's available this time.
