Rumor has it that KAT might be available.

Quote from: Brian Windhorst
Has anybody noticed what’s going on in Minnesota with Karl-Anthony Towns and that organization? If I were the Celtics, I would make a quiet call to Minnesota.

I would just say, if the Celtics are looking for opportunities and sort of lay and wait, that might be one right there. I don’t think Anthony Davis is going anywhere, anytime soon. Karl Towns, that might be a different story.

It's only logical to assume that Danny is intrigued. He makes the call. First offer on the table: a bunch of spare parts + the Kings pick. The Wolves hang up the phone. Danny waits a couple of days and then makes a second call. He offers Brown + the Kings pick, but the Wolves already have Butler-Wiggins. They want Tatum.

So let's KAT to the chase here

Tatum + Clips pick for KAT

What do you guys say?

Really tough decision, but at the end of the day I think I do it.

Alternatively (less likely scenario): the Wolves want Kyrie. Kyrie wants to play with Butler (after all he had the Wolves on his list of preferred trade destinations last year). The C's trade Kyrie Irving + Clips 2019 first to the Wolves for KAT + Aldrich + Tyus Jones (or something like that).

on a separate note

would you rather have a

Kyrie/Brown/Tatum/Hayward/Horford lineup

or

Rozier (one of Brown/Tatum) / Hayward / Horford/Kat lineup

What makes KAT a better player than Tatum projects? I'm really interested to hear about how a guy who has recently been criticised for his effort as a third wheel has more potential than our most successful rookie since Bird...

The attractiveness of trading Tatum for Towns (I would not include any other picks, I am considering a straight up deal) is that Towns is a big and really good bigs are harder to find.  Plus we have Hayward who plays the same position as Tatum's natural position.  So we upgrade from Baynes/Morris to Towns while replacing Tatum with Hayward.  I would do this.  I don't relish giving up Tatum but I like Towns too and he balances our roster better.

My question is why would Minny do this.  As someone said, they have Butler and Wiggins.  Towns fits perfectly with them.

Nope. Just find a way to get Justin Patton, instead :).

If he was half the player defensively that he is offensively, you'd do the trade. And it's not just inexperience, I think he's lazy.

I wouldn't do it. I think JT is going to be an all-nba level player.

No chance. Tatum is cost-controlled for way longer than KAT, gives his all on defence (even if he does make the odd mistake), and is just more fun ;)

FWIW, I think a lot more people would be willing to give up Irving rather than Tatum in a KAT deal.

I would much rather give up Irving.  It looks like Tatum might end up impacting winning more than Towns or Irving.

Its funny that so many people are so quick to trade players and picks for big like KAT or high picks to draft one. Of the 4 remaining teams in the playoffs not one has a dominant, top 50 player type big. Capela is the best and he was found later in the draft and is extremely limited offensively.

I wouldn't do the trade. I love Stevens switch everything defense with a lot of big long wings and Horford. And I don't think KAT would fit well in it. Also, this team is stacked offensively next year with everyone back and healthy. We don't need KAT there.

Going forward with Rozier as our PG wouldn't be great. He's not consistent at all and out of control half the time. When he's hot, he's one of the better PG's, but when he's not, he doens't have any other skill set to really impact the team. His Defense isn't as good as it should be for a guy that quick. He's had a nice run, but I'd sell high on him and find an other back up PG in this draft.

KI's knees have been cleared by the MED staff. The issue was screws from when he broke it that never got taken out, and was suppose to this summer. They were rubbing wrong, And then the infection happened to make it worse. Everything about the knee structurally looks good.
