Hauser has proven to be a genius move by Brad and probably our first "diamond in the rough" guy who's panned out. Defensively he's underrated, and as far as a shooter I honestly don't think the dude is ever missing a shot. But he's someone who's not talked about as far as what his next contract will be. We've focused on White and even Holiday as far as what we think they'll get next go around, but honestly what would you think Hauser gets next contract. You gotta at least think same as Pritchard or even more considering the NBA these days? Do we keep him around or is he someone we're going to have to let go next year.

I've been thinking about this since last year. I think some team will overpay for him and we lose him but I hope I'm wrong. Elite shooting gets overpaid.

They won’t be able to pay him. Enjoy him while you can.

He will get less than Grant Williams. May be too much to pay just like with Grant, but won't be a huge contract either
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

Hauser is threatening Kyle Korver level play.

A $15-20mil per annum payday is a real likelihood.

Grant is a good comp. He got less than $14 mil a year, on average.

The cap keeps going up so I won't be surprised if Hauser gets $15 mil but we don't have to worry about that for another year.

I agree. And we should pay him! Letting Sam Hauser go, a wing we've been searching for years (a sharpshooter with good defense), would be a huge mistake. If money becomes an issue then you resign White and Hauser whatever the cost, while you let go of Holiday. He'll be 35 in 2025, so you don't really want to pay an old guard big money.

Then we continue with White/Hauser/Tatum/Brown/Porzingis with Pritchard as 6th man.

Fun fact: this season Hauser has more win shares than both Holiday and Brown in 200 less minutes!

Max Strus got $62m over 4 years this past offseason. I think that's a good comp for Hauser.

I have been thinking about this as well.....C's can't keep everyone...something has to give....I am thinking it maybe Holiday who is not resigned after this season unless he is willing to take a 3 yr deal at 20 million/yr - which I doubt he will.  White and Hauser will be up for big pay increases after the 24-25 season, not to mention Tatum.

If they sign Jrue to a Kristaps type deal (30 mil/yr) and give Derek and Sam fair money,   the C's would have 5 or 6 guys totaling the entire 2nd apron and still have a roster to fill out - which is why I think Jrue could be the odd man out - given what he would want/get on the open market plus his age.

Of course we are getting ahead of ourselves, but enjoy all of them NOW.

I think this is what Drew Peterson was signed for. To replace Hauser when his contract is up.

That is why I have had such a hard time with Brown's contract.  He is vastly overpaid and that will end up costing Boston players.  I just don't think he is worth that contract to Boston.

Payton Pritchard just extended for 4 years, $30M total.  Grant got, what, 4 years, $53M total.  Max Strus 4 years, $62M total.  Grant and Strus are both 30+ min starters on their current teams.  I am not sure Hauser is that, maybe.

Doesn't his contract have a team option for 2024-25?  So we don't have to worry about this just yet?

Hauser is also only 26 right now. It's not like he's some 30-year old who just found his role, there's room for more improvement as well. I think 4/53M+ is too much even with how he's looked this season, but 3/33M or 4/44M sounds reasonable.

Gabe Vincent sort of found his footing after 2021, put together a few solid seasons (and some great playoff games along the way) and at age 27 got a 3/33M deal with the Lakers.
