If they change OT rules where instead of playing another 5 minutes, each team gets one player to compete in an e-sport game, does that change his value?

You couldnt get a bag of donuts for him at this point.

That's true, the CBA would throw that right out.

I was never one of those clamoring to "get rid" of Hayward but the devil's advocate in me also cautions about getting too giddy with his recent success.  He had some great games last season too.

Realistically, him playing better could make it more likely that he gets traded for a big, in a contrarian sort of way.

How ever it works out, him playing better is better for the Celtics so it is great to see him playing at his full ability.  Good for him.  He had to have worked extremely hard to get back to this point.

It’s just shocking to me that in Boston the majority opinion still is that Tatum is a better player. Right now, a better player. Come on, Boston. With or without this game from Hayward it’s not close. Tatum hopefully gets there. But it’s not close.

Tatum has a higher ceiling...

Until Tatum can demonstrate to me that he can lead a team to the Conference Semis (Like GH has done), then I'd humbly hold off on the expectations of Tatum's ceiling.

Do I think JT can get there? Absolutely. But he isn't there now.

I "LOVE" me some Jason Tatum...no doubt about this. But GH is the better player - especially as he rounds back into Utah form.

I mean I get what you're saying and actually agree that hayward is better right now (although I think it is somewhat close)  but Tatum did technically lead a team to the ECF sooo I don't really like the playoff argument. I mean make the argument on actual skills, not on something with as many confounding factors as playoff success.

Point taken - not the greatest metric to use, I'll admit.

But as far as Tatum leading that team in 2017-18 I'd have to give the majority of the credit to THAT magical run to to none other than

IMO Big Al was the steady hand during that entire run - with JT playing a part as well.

I could only have said about half of that post better... :police:

Hey, I'm taking all suggestions in an attempt to dump that clown. We just can't afford any more nights from him like last night.

Mike

Maybe we can put Hayward and Kemba in a trade and get Kyrie back!
As Lisa Loopner used to say, "That's so funny I forgot to laugh."

We would be over our calorie cap.

If Hayward keeps this up and makes it to the allstar game what happens with his contract in June?
He most likely would opt out. How much should we pay him to keep him a Celtic?
4yr $120M? It will be interesting to see

While I understand the OP was satire/sarcasm this is a valid point.

I'd rather trade high on Hayward than let him walk for nothing or risk having to resign him to another max if he opts out.

So its interesting because there arent really any teams that will both have max cap space AND are actually expecting to be good. I believe I read that only five teams are predicted to have 20 million or more in space including Atanta, Charlotte, Cleveland, Memphis and New York. Those are all bad teams who may not have a timeline to fit  30 year old Gordon hayward.

Also keep in mind Tatum has this year and one more cheap year left, Jaylens contract kicks in next year, and Kemba has three years left after this one. That means bringing back Gordon equals tax territory.

My guess is he just opts in.

Interesting indeed.

Longtime Hayward fan here.  I urge caution with the hyperbole, the Cavs are essentially a G-league team.  It's nice to see Hayward play well, but he had good games last season before returning to the norm.  Let's see him put a decent season together before we start talking about all-star appearances.
