Over money.

He is letting a cousin represent him.

Sounds like he is getting bad advice.

1) he losses money he could have earned this season.
2) he likely will drop in the draft because of this.

Yup its a very bad decision. You really shouldn't have a family member be your agent.

If a player is drafted and cannot reach a contract with the team that owns his rights, he can sit out a year and reenter the draft. As long as he doesn't play football.

I believe Gandhi is the only person who knew about real democracy — not democracy as the right to go and buy what you want, but democracy as the responsibility to be accountable to everyone around you. Democracy begins with freedom from hunger, freedom from unemployment, freedom from fear, and freedom from hatred.

The only family member I can remember being an agent was Eric Montross' dad. I guess that worked out ok

just for the record, His cousin isn't his agent.  He's an advisor.  His agent has no idea where this is comming from.

Also, If you're going to hold out, don't you have to say you'll hold out for the whole year?  What are you going to do, say "I'm gonna hold out for a week and then give in but you better give me what I want before that".??

Good point. I didn't think of it that way. But yes, I think some guys say they'll just hold out of training camp

I think sometimes franchise tag guys say they'll hold out till the last game where they can play enough games to get a year of credit towards the NFL pension

A lot of player's use family or hangers on as agents. It usually ends up poorly. Ricky Williams used Master P for his rookie deal!

In this case it sounds like Crabtree has a real agent, and his cousin is just an "advisor". The agent apparently claims no such threat has been made or discussed.

I personally would like to see him sit out, not because I dislike him but because I think it would be really interested to see how the whole thing works out.  I mean there is no way he makes more money the following year after sitting out a season.  I just think it would be really fun watching the whole thing play out
CB Draft LA Lakers: Lamarcus Aldridge, Carmelo Anthony,Jrue Holiday, Wes Matthews  6.11, 7.16, 8.14, 8.15, 9.16, 11.5, 11.16

Missing all (or even most) of training camp in football can have a drastic effect on how much a player contributes in his first year. If they don't sign him until the season starts they're basically paying him for his full rookie year but getting about a half a season of play from him. If they don't sign him at all during the year though he'll go back into the draft next summer.

  • I left Indiana. Because it was horrible.

How would he drop in the draft when he's already been drafted?  Fantasy drafts?
CB Draft Bucks: Chris Paul, Dwight Howard, Tobias Harris, Zach LaVine, Aaron Afflalo, Jeff Green, Donatas Motiejunas, Jarrett Jack, Frank Kaminsky, Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, Shane Larkin, Nick Young

DKC Bucks. Also terrible.
