I'm just wondering why Williams wasn't in the game at the end to possibly try to defend the rim from Walls late game assault.
Might have been that Wall absolutely schooled Williams on a regular basis earlier in the game.

He schooled everyone else too...

How the heck did we give up 125 points to a mediocre Wizards team?
113 in regulation.

That's still terrible. I think Baynes still being hobbled and RW being a rookie didn't help though.
Nor did having to play Wanamaker in the fourth quarter.

So nice to debate a basketball issue here tonite and not have to worry about personal criticism because I make a specific reference about how Irving was playing.

Thanks all.

Everyone will give Irving credit - but he gave up one layup after another in regulation and overtime. If he plays defense, we don't need those miracle 3's he made.

Well sure, but to be fair Wall was shredding our entire team.  Irving also drew a huge charge against Wall late in the 4th.

He wasn't shredding the entire team - Wall was going right by Irving, who was pretending to guard him. Just no resistance. And his 3's were miracles.
No. Wall just went past anyone who guarded him all game.

Agree
Really guys? John Wall is like the fastest guy with a dribble in the league. When he is on, and he was, he can be pretty unstoppable. Complaining about Kyrie after this game is just showing your obvious bias.

Go and look at any top scoring PG in the league today.  There isn't a single one that can stop any of the other top scoring PG's.  It's mostly just the nature of that position today.

At least Kyrie puts in effort, and can function within the team's scheme.  Not all of the other top scoring PG's can say that.

They’re just showing replays on PostGame Live and he was blowing by Irving, Morris, Tatum and Rozier throughout the 2nd half. Rob Williams too, though he can’t really be expected to defend wall so I’m not counting him.

Walls a pretty tough customer to guard at the best of times, especially when he gets a running start. I’m just surprised he I,proved so much from his 1 pt game last game, he looked really hobbled then.
All true, but I ddin’t see him hitting many three’s, whereas Kyrie hit clutch three’s. Analytics say Kyrie won in this match-up.

The score also says that.

It’s a lot easier said than done. Guy can get into the paint at will. I made this point earlier as well but I think if the Cs really wanted to try to slow him down, they’d try to put Smart on him. I think they rather have Wall best them with 2s than Beal get hot and beat them with 3s.

True. There aren't a lot of Avery Bradleys in the league. When Wall feels it not even AB can guard him. Smart can't really guard wall, we found that out the hard way. We had to switch Smart on Beal and AB on Wall because they were killing us if we switched it the other way around.
