I thought you could not trade 2 first round draft picks in consecutive drafts but I keep on hearing trade rumors involving the pick. Can someone clarify the rule for me?

Also, why could Denver trade their pick if they didn't have any picks last year? Thanks.

I'd like clarification on this as well. i believe we gave Minny next yr's pick in the KG trade, so does that prohibit us from moving this yr's pick (consecutive yr rule)?

Yeah, if we traded this year's pick that would mean 3 years without a 1st round pick unless we trade for one.

You can not have two consecutive first round picks.

what? that's wrong, do you mean, you cannot have two consecutive years w/out 1st round picks? I think that's what you're going for

I believe the rule is stated that you cannot trade away your first round pick in two consecutive future drafts.

This means that the C's cannot technically trade their first round pick this year, because they have already traded away next years pick.

However, there are ways around this.  Mainly, what they can do is agree to draft for someone else, and then make the trade after the pick is made.
