Its been reported by multiple sources that Hayward whose wife is due in Sept will be leaving the bubble for the birth of his 4th child.

Good news is that multiple sources including Keith Smith are reporting that the NBA will shorted the required quarantine for returning players depending on the circumstances.

Could set up a nice dramatic return game for Hayward deep into the Cs playoff run.

When exactly is the whole season and playoffs expected to end? Is it in mid-September, or later?

Well, that is assuming the C's are still playing at that point.

True. I assume as the C's go 16-0 in the playoffs, the season might end faster than expected  :P

Do you know what the time frame is on players needing to sit out after returning to the bubble? Hayward's first two seasons here were pretty much a complete sunk cost to the Cs. He has obviously been more promising this one, but if he is going to miss the entire ECF because he is choosing to leave, then that will be pretty disappointing. If the Cs look like they have a real chance of going the distance, then Hayward should do everything he can to make himself available. It sounds crass (and I'm glad there are no longer negative TPs), but it is his 4th child. Robyn is doing this in her sleep at this point.

Yeah as cold as it sounds, I can’t help but feel the same way.  It’s also just a bit annoying too because we’re finally most likely gonna have a fully healthy roster, ready to go for the playoffs, and then this news breaks.

On another note, did we really have negative TPs at one time?? How do I not remember that?!

1st child or 4th child, it really shouldn't matter.   It's more important than a game.

Can we get a Fred VanVleet like performance once Gordon’s son is born?

4 days in quarantine plus however long he is away would be what he would miss if all goes well.

Quote
Under the NBA protocol, a player leaving the Orlando bubble would only have to quarantine for as few as four days as long as he tests negative for all four days in isolation. In a best-case scenario, Hayward would miss however many days he was gone for his child’s birth, plus four days in isolation upon his return.

I understand why he wants to go. Family > sports...even though we the fans don't always see it that way

Hopefully he only misses one game and not 2 or 3, and that it is not a game 7 or anything like that.

When exactly is the whole season and playoffs expected to end? Is it in mid-September, or later?

From Yahoo Sports:

Once the seeding round concludes on Aug. 14 and the play-in games (if necessary) are finished on Aug. 15-16, the opening round of the playoffs start on Aug. 17. The conference semifinals are scheduled to begin Aug. 31, with the conference finals starting Sept. 15. The NBA Finals fire up on Sept. 30.

So, yeah, you really couldn't ask for a worse time for Hayward to be missing time. That is why I asked how long he will actually need to quarantine for?

On another note, did we really have negative TPs at one time?? How do I not remember that?!

Yep, I think it goes back to like 2005. It was a short-lived, but dark part of the CB/CS past  ;)

EDIT: Thank you and TP Oz for the answer!

It's an easy decision for sure.

But yeah I also agree with some. If this happens during some elimination Game 6, or a Game 7. Ugh  :(
