Good Luck, Diana.  God keep you safe on your journey.

Diana Nyad is in the water attempting the swim from Cuba to Key West, FL (90 miles) without a shark tank.  She tried, and failed, once before at age 28 in 1978.  That time she was in the water (in a shark tank) for 40+ hours but currents and winds carried her off course.

Yesterday is history.
Tomorrow is a mystery.
Today is a gift...
That is why it is called the present.

I guess my only question here is why?  Is she doing it for Charity or something?

I don't know, and I don't know whether to applaud her courage or question her intelligence....anyway, I admire her for following her own path.

OK, here is the update.  Diana finally started her swim around dusk on Sunday night.  She made it about half way from Cuba to Key West, the quest ended just after midnight (around 12:30 a.m.) Tuesday morning 8/9/11.  Evidently she couldn't fight the sea, and her asma, any longer...

Still, my admiration for attempting it, and condolences for not being successful this time. It was a valiant attempt.

She has mentioned several times that one of the reasons for the swim was to focus attention on Cuba/U.S relations.
