Title: Naz Reid (LSU)
Post by: gouki88 on November 12, 2018, 08:29:48 PM
I know we all dream of the Sacramento pick falling in the top 5, but if it ends up a bit lower (mid-lotto area) I think Naz Reid is a guy we should seriously look at.

Has a really nice handle, legitimate NBA range, and is a properly sized NBA big at 6'10, 250lbs and a 7'1 wingspan. He seems to be able to score from all 3 levels, which is awesome. Obviously not as freakish as Zion or Bol, and not as skilled as Reddish, Little or Barrett, but he could be a very nice consolation prize.

position wise and outside shooting he looks great as Zion consolation.  He looks slow, or maybe methodical, but I think he might be Kyle Anderson slow...deceptively getting where he wants...though his motor has been said to waver.  But many motors waver at that age.

Still for now my top Zion consolations are Barrett and Little, then Reddish, despite being wingful already.  I'm also interested in guards R. Langford and K. Johnson as future scorers off the bench...as I assume we'll badly need a quality backup two next year.

If we can't keep Morris we'll need a PF too...wonder if Reid would be ready to play next year.  He's not a big wing defender like Morris but maybe he fits anyway.

I think his speed is deceptive, as you say. He consistently has the ability to get past guys smaller than him off the dribble. As you say, his shooting ability is very impressive, and we know that that’s what CBS and DA like.

I definitely agree, Reid is more a guy I’d take around 8-10, because of the guys you listed and perhaps Bol.

Hopefully we can keep Mook, and only need to replace TRoz and maybe Theis. Might have to package some first rounders for a higher pick, if possible.

We should look for the next Siakam. Diamond in the rough. Length and athleticism.

Naz isn't that slow. He looked good against that Memphis team. LSU has some really talented freshmen so his stats won't be inflated due to that. He does have a good handle and some range but isn't going to blow past people, which we really don't need from someone his size. He may be a better skilled Perk. We'll have to see how tough he is once SEC ball rolls around. Looks like he can bang though.

Interesting Prospect.

Difficult to get a read on him. Looks like a power guard, definitely not a banger despite possessing that build but its possible that his shooting is just that good that he could become a real impact starter at the next level.

He's so big that he can see over most guards and wings giving him a clear line of sight for spot up 3's.

I don't typically think too highly of LSU prospects but every great team needs a physical presence. Consider me intrigued.
