First off lets make a few assumptions.

First lets assume that Kyrie resigns.

Secondly lets assume that Sacramento dips a little in the standings and the pick parlays at 11th, and Bostons own pick drop back some in the draft to 24th. LAC pick stays the same. Memphis pick does not parlay this season.

Third lets assume that in a Davis deal, he agrees to sign long term, Rozier, Morris and Theis all resign as well.

Would you rather:

a) A trade of all picks, Tatum, Smart, Williams for Davis

Irving/Rozier
Brown/
Hayward/Semi
Horford/Morris/Yabusele
Davis/Baynes/Theis

or

b)
Keep current assets and draft BPAs(According to tankathon) and make moves to strengthen through consolidation closer to season and let Rozier and Morris leave.

11th Nasir Little
18th Bol Bol
24th Bruno Fernando

Irving/Smart
Brown/Hayward
Tatum/Little/Semi
Horford/Theis/Yabusele
Baynes/Williams/Bol Bol/Fernando

Of those two options, I would keep Tatum. I don’t think AD wants to be in Boston long term.

I'd almost rather have just Anthony Davis on that second option. Find a reliable, vet PG and go with that. (I know that's a long shot.)

From a strong supporter of Kyrie Irving... I'm on the fence in reference to resigning him. He too much of a "Brand", he sucks all the air out of the room and the basketball court, he misses too many games and there is strong evidence that he struggles to find the right combination of point guard and scorer with this Celtic team.

Trade for Anthony Davis

They don't need to do that. They really don't.

If they find a tough big in the draft to work with, they have 2 decent projects with 3 quality  big men already.

They don't need to blow this team up for that, man. They're way too close to having a dominant team to gamble right now.

What these guys are gonna be in the next 2 years negates  any trade. I hope yall can one day see that.

I've watched so many bad celtic teams since 89 to know...they almost have what they want if they be patient.

You just do not trade a young guy with so many gifts AND the clutch gene.

You just don't do it. And I doubt Davis has the clutch gene or they would have won much more in his career with NO.

If we win championship this season, or are in finals and lose in 7 games, no trade.

Otherwise,  probably trade. Although I would offer either Smart or Memphis pick, but not both.

Also, we won't know if AD agrees to extension until the end of next season, is my understanding. So you have created a hypothetical that can't possibly happen when we make our trade decision.

So, would I rather have one top five player or zero top five players?

[Consults NBA history books...]

Davis, please. And I don’t think we’d necessarily have to include Smart.

Horford / Baynes
Davis / Morris
Hayward
Brown / Smart
Kyrie

That’s a championship rotation.

If Irving leaves, it would be hard to believe AD would be compelled to stay and re-sign.

I just assumed we’d keep Smart and have him as our sixth man. He could take Rozier’s backup PG slot.

Smart is being traded in option A.
