After trade with Wizards, Suns agree to part ways with G Austin Rivers, per ESPN sources. Rivers – earning $12.6M in final year of deal – becomes a free agent upon clearing waivers. As a veteran, sides concluded Rivers fits better on an older team that's pursuing playoffs.

I don’t think we could use him. Where does he end up? He is a solid bench player

Probably back to the Pelicans who could use a ballhandler

If we trade rozier, we could use rivers. He's become a decent rotation option on a bench that can score

Like someone else said he's solid. Rivers is probably looking for minutes so it prob wont be here

Wait they don't have ballhandlers either!?

I thought they were all guards and bigs with no wings...but apparently these guards can't even handle the rock...

Orlando. Doc has a house there, Austin already lived there. Orlando could use some guard help.

I don't think he fits on Boston as I don't think he will get anywhere near enough minutes for him to come here.  That said, I think it would be funny to sign Doc's kid.

He's a perfectly capable 4th guard with no weaknesses, but no strengths either. He is an ok shooter, ok defender, ok passer, ok driver. But you can't rely on him to run the second unit, or to shut down the other team's best creator or their second unit's best creator.

He is the tofu of NBA basketball players. Perfectly capable of playing a role, but is not going to add anything special.

Rivers is probably a better defender than Rozier. He also may be a better team offense guy than Rozier (although Rozier is a better creator). But I'd rather have the possibility of Rozier catching fire in the 3rd and hitting 5 threes.

He would be bad for their locker room, but it wouldn’t surprise anybody.

yeah that is how I feel and why I said I couldn't really see him finding a role.

He would be perfect on a team like the Sixers though as he would get some solid playing time and they badly need depth.

Ugg. Good point. Still, of all the buyout/release candidates, Rivers scares me least.

Signing Rivers would open up the possibility of trading Rozier to someone like Phoenix and not adversely affect guard depth.

Yeah, they should have at least kept his contract through the trade deadline.
