This guy will be a much better pro than amateur. I see he is mocked mid-2nd so he may be there for the C's. I'm surprised he's that low. I'd think he was late 1st material though not a huge difference between the two. Decent defender so he'd be a good fit. Doesn't turn the ball over so that's not a fit here....ha-ha.

Julian Champagnie reminds me a lot of Marcus Morris

I agree just a smaller version, it will not shock me to see Champagnie develop into a decent bench wing.

I just added Gabe Brown to the list, he is a player who I could also see a team developing him into a capable 3-D team defender.

Yeah, smaller and less offensively dynamic.

I like Gabe Brown. Excellent shooter, good athlete and can defend. Lefty shooting strokes always look that little bit sweeter

I’m a big fan of Trevion Williams and like his fit offensively, on defense I worry if he will ever be able to move well enough to fit the Cs switch heavy system.

Micheal Foster is a player I would be very excited to see the Celtics draft. He is a throw back type PF in the Julius Randle mold, but as a top 10 recruit in his HS class a fall to the 2nd round may come with a touch of humility. If he can be developed to serviceable defender he could be a real steal in the 2nd.

Just to be a jerk, and because I’m a New Mexico fan, Teddy Allen went to New Mexico St, not New Mexico. He’s an Aggie (Siakam’s school) not a Lobo (Danny Grainger, Luc Longley, Kenny Thomas, Tony Snell and yes Celtics bust JR Giddens’ school).

Time to extrapolate to an extreme degree and randomly pick a binkie.

Champagnie's body looks like Grant Williams' and Desmond Bane's.

A lot of success with that body type recently. The small ball Rockets had a bunch of these stocky players (Tucker, Eric Gordon, and of course Harden).

It’s interesting to see how much value these “stocky player” have in the modern NBA. The current most valuable defensive archetype are the players who are typically a few inches smaller then they should be for their position, but with + length, the strength to play up a position, and the lateral quickness the coincides with their height.

You look at players like Draymond Green,PJ Tucker, Grant Williams, Jae Crowder, Smart, Holiday, Lowry, Vanvleet, they all fit this mold and are super valuable in the playoffs.

With the NBA allowing more physicality again in the game while retaining the spread out perimeter skill based offenses of the modern game I think we will see an increased value placed on this wide body “strength and length” type players.

This is where players like Trevor Keels, Liddel, or a sleeper like Darius Day could climb on draft night

yea even before additional physicality was allowed, these stocky mobile dudes were just so switchable.

Even Timelord has a short neck.

Timelord's wingspan, though, huge - I think Smart, and Dreymond Green (I think his are especially ridiculous) - and PJ Tucker also share this trait and all plus defenders. Timelord's wingspan is stupendous too just from my recollection.

Zion is the ultimate version of this archetype.

What for...if Bust Nesmith cant crack the rotation none of these players are goin to crack Ime who likes sticking to an 8 man rotation playoffs or reg season.

That’s the pessimistic all be it logical way to look at the draft particularly in the 2nd round. However every draft players are taken in the 2nd round who prove to be valuable NBA players. With the cap gymnastics required to build and maintain winning NBA rosters hitting on a 2nd is extremely valuable.
