Wow, both Violet and Dick B. This is bound to be fun.And now no Rondo.
Meh yeah I no longer care to even watch this game after that Rondo suspensionWow, both Violet and Dick B. This is bound to be fun.And now no Rondo.
I think I'll just be watching football....
Well they don't have Felton...They got some guy Kid who isnt too shabby
Who will we start a PG Barbosa? Or Bradley at PG & Lee at 2?I think this is the perfect game to start green.
What do you guys peg our chances at winning this game? Not very good imo without Rondo attacking and drawing defenses in like he has these past few games we can't beat the elite teams...maybe Torronto or the Wizards we could survive w/ out bim but not the Knicks
Two on melo!
Two on melo!
I actually hate that, wanted to see how we play against the Knicks, when he's actually playing.
Though I guess a win here is more important.
Ah, Doc back to the Bass and Sully together mess. You want Jason Collins in there against Chandler?
Please somebody give me an explanation as to why Avery isn't on JR? That's 5 points created by Terry's awful on ball D
Ah, Doc back to the Bass and Sully together mess. You want Jason Collins in there against Chandler?
Collins can't keep up with Chandler on defense with the rolls and rebounding and Chandler can help off him with complete impunity.Ah, Doc back to the Bass and Sully together mess. You want Jason Collins in there against Chandler?
Sure.
Sully loves those one handed rebounds. He is handsy with his box outs, locks up with other guys a lot. Works for him a I guess.
And Jeff NEEDS to keep going at Novak.
I love Sully!!!

I don't know what I have less confidence in:
A Lee 3 point shot or Green driving and finishing?
Loving Lee

Sure.
At least Bass/Sullinger can do something offensively.
I like the Brasilia on Argentinian match up
why doesn't doc use Leondardo ???
Green's doing a good job on Melo so far. He also got hacked with no call on that shot under the basket.
Because he's a super streaky player, look at his game log he'll have games where he can't hit anything.I like the Brasilia on Argentinian match up
why doesn't doc use Leondardo ???
Because of Terry ::)
IMO given 15 min a night, he would average about 10 pointsBecause he's a super streaky player, look at his game log he'll have games where he can't hit anything.I like the Brasilia on Argentinian match up

Seen Jet's game log? Not too much more impressive.
Doc goes small, Knicks go on run. :-\would brandon Bass would help close out the three pointers in transition better than PP/Green. Sullinger?
I think we have to get rid of Jason Terry. Just either not a fit or has totally lost his swagNo they can use the stretch provision on him instead.
I rather keep barbosa. At least he still has superb quickness which helps him drive in at will and play defense
Worse case , can Terry be amnestied over the summer??

We're small because the Knicks are small.

So. Pound them inside, never go small.

amnesty or stretch provision, does this mean Terry if waived still gets his money paid by the team??
I really don't see any hope for him. In Dallas he must of got those open shots while the other team was watching disco dirk dance near around the key

we need to get sully in there to rebound
another rediculous 3 by the Knicks..The playoffs. They'll miss in the playoffs.
will they ever miss?
come on Jeff green man up tonight. make me a believer!@
so Amare is just a bench scrub nowadays? So far yes, we'll have to see if he can get back some of his physical ability.

Been playing good defense on Melo, as I expected, and his offense has been decent. I'll take it.

safe to say i wouldnt be opposed to jet sitting for the rest of this game... smh man these bad games are happening way too often
Jason Terry is a waste of space tonight
In my opinion Bradley has been a bit too passive on Kidd so far. When he's on him, I expect him to be a bigger pest.kidd is a ver good ball handler.
NY 10-17 pm Threes - unsustainable.
I can see BOS pulling this one out.
We get this one, and ESPN will be back on our bandwagon once again...you'll see us climbing the "Power Rankings"....

I like Bradley on smith better
Was KG praying on the bench before the half? And is Novak wearing lipstick?
:(
Hope bavetta has a stroke tonight
Absolutely classic line by Tommy!!!!! "I don't think Novak could guard me tonight"
We're getting in their head lol
I have a man crush on Sully. If they make a disparate trade for anything else than a sure thing and Sully and/or Bradley is included I'll go berserk. These guys are a joy to watch, ball out every night.
Jeff green looked like he wanted nothing more than to pass the ball. Frustrating.
Please, anyone able to give me a quick recap so far? :(
76 - 72 looks good tho :]
Barbosa over Lee ALL DAY. Knicks can't even get the ball up court.

Knicks were hot from 3 in the first half. But the Celtics pestering defense has been bothering the Knicks. The tide is turning Boston's way for some time now.
Barbosa over Lee ALL DAY. Knicks can't even get the ball up court.
Lee? Really? Over Terry, sure but Lee has good energy.
... Are you serious? They're just making up stuff now.
Obvious double dribble missed and then a bogus Sullinger foul. Wow.
Not watching the game but... does Sullinger remind anyone else of Tim Duncan?
Violet Palmer is now Bavetta's puppet.please don't tell me where he puts his hand to control her mouth :-X
I love Avery Bradley ;DAmen.
Win or lose this is the Celtic team I know. Playing hard, if we can manage to get a skilled big we are rolling.Absolutely. This is the defensive intensity we've been waiting for. I blame Bradley!
Melo is fouling both KG and PP over and over again....
finally a call on MeloWhat's that? Tell me more
Where's the flagrant on Melo?
Where's the flagrant on Melo?
So p---ed I Am missing this game. Just started listening on the radio. Emergency work with a client. Just found out Rondo was suspended. GO, Celts!
KG is in Melo's headTP
If Paul hits that shot, it's a great shot. But he missed it.wide open 3 with 8 seconds on the shot clock for pp is a good shot
If Paul hits that shot, it's a great shot. But he missed it.
Did he even hit him in the face?
Hahahaha everybody just see Bradley try and help Smith up and Terry comes over and pushes him away! Don't help the Knicks get up!
Did anyone see Terry push Avery aside as he extended a hand to help JR up?
Paul reminds me of Reggie Miller when he plays against the Knicks.except PP is likable ;D
where's the T on Chandler. not supposed to be able to yell at the refs like that. You and I will be in our graves before they call that tech.
DON'T TRADE SULLINGER OR BRADLEY !!!!
MSG is reporting that Melo was waiting outside the Celtics locker room and had to be hauled away from security.
What the F? Tough guy?

Is it just me, or was Melo saying "I'll see you after this" to CLee when KG was taking his free throw...?

When the game ended, he went off the court on the wrong side and followed the Celtics out. Apparently he was screaming and yelling at someone. This is ridiculous, kg talks but he leaves it on the court. What is melo trying to prove that hes a street thug? Hanging out on those NY streets must get to his head.
Dang what did the Celtics do to Melo because they're saying he's waiting outside the locker room and had to be restrained.Melo's a ring chaser so he probably wanted to ask the C's how he can get traded to the team 8)
I love this team getting into other players head and getting them angry.
Rondo owes Paul Pierce, Jeff Green, KG, AB, Sully - etc - STEAK DINNERS, lol...

Only owes that to Bradley I think, because before Bradley came back we had just lost 3 games by an average of 30 points and were walking into one of the toughest stretch of games in the season.
Then Bradley returns and we won 3 of 4 of those games, and we won them all with defense.
But of course 'apparently' Bradley isn't that important to our team! ::)
I thought Green played some excellent defense on melo...thats why we picked him up IMO.
really bothered him and offensively took it strong to the hoop offensively..I liked to see that.
it was also nice to see Bradley finally regain that nice shooting stroke he had last year

I'm loving what he's doing right now, as well as the team.
If BOS can continue to win like this, get Wilcox back, stay healthy - perhaps we won't need to make ANY trades, I'm hoping.

Hey, don't talk about my New York streets like that!
Even though 50% of those streets are unsafe to walk on at night... and you're probably right ;D

If knicks fans are mad at AB he is really doing his job.
Nice!
nobody said AB was not a huge factor. but he will not make a difference as far as us being a REAL CONTENDER.....we still need a guy to rim protect when KG is out. wilcox and collins are not those guys i am not afraid to say.
Re-watching this game on DVR. Violet Palmer really is a terrible ref.
NEW YORK -- New York Knicks sixth man J.R. Smith needed 11 stitches to patch up a deep cut over his right eye, suffered during the Boston Celtics' 102-96 win over the New York Knicks on Monday night.
The incident happened with 1:08 remaining in the fourth quarter, when Smith and Celtics shooting guard Avery Bradley got tangled up during a loose ball situation, and Bradley fouled Smith. The Knicks' medical staff treated Smith on the sideline by putting a bandage on the wound, and then a headband over that to keep it in place.
"It was definitely inadvertent," said Smith of Bradley's foul. "That's just the way he plays. He plays very aggressive defense and I like to play aggressive basketball, so it was fine."
"In three games this season coming into the game against the Knicks, Boston has starved opposing offenses when Bradley is on the court, allowing just 86.5 points per 100 possessions. How good is that? Indiana has the best defensive rating in the NBA this season at 98.9 points per 100 possessions. "nobody said AB was not a huge factor. but he will not make a difference as far as us being a REAL CONTENDER.....we still need a guy to rim protect when KG is out. wilcox and collins are not those guys i am not afraid to say.
Honestly, what more does ABradley need to do show how critical he is to this teams title hopes?
When Bradley took over from Ray last season our team turned from being barely a playoff team to being a serious contender. We didn't add any key bigs in the process.
This season we couldn't put together a three game stretch of playing "Celtics basketball" until convenietly one game after Bradley's return - we didn't pick up any new bigs over this stretch, the only change we made in that regard was moving Collins to the bench so we have a proper big to back up KG.
I don't know how much of it is about his physical play, his mental boost and his impact on the roster (i.e. ability to move Terry to the bench) but ever since the 4th quarter of his first game back the body language of the entire team has changed.
Suddenly we have gone from a team who looks lazy and disintersted, to a team that is looks focussed and emotional. Guys like Green, Terry and Collins (formerly invisible) are now playing lock-down defense. We're more physical - teams are getting frustrated playing against usagainst us, games are getting chippy and our guys are refusing to back down. Finally we are showing signs of Celtic effect, which has opposing teams dreading the thought of playing us because they know that even if they win, they aren't coming out of it without a few bumps and bruises.
I can't tell you what individual aspect changed this (it's probably a combination of them all) but over this three game stretch we are playing 'championship contender' basketball, and we have not played that at all this entire season up to this point. I find it very hard to believe that this is pure coincidence and that our guys just happened to wake up one game after Bradley returns. If you look at the impact he had last season, that's too much coincidence.
Now, in just four nights, Boston has beaten three of the East's top four teams. Far from the aging, toothless squad we saw in the season's first couple months, more and more Boston looks like the team many predicted it would be, one capable of another deep run into the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Garnett played a team high 38 minutes tonight. He's also been playing longer stretches recently since the lost to Sacramento.
I really liked how Doc distributed the minutes tonight. Even though the Celtics held up surprisingly well and more when neither Pierce and KG were on the court, to go with Rondo being suspended, I'm glad he pushed KG a bit harder because that's the way circumstances broke with Pierce in foul trouble and Rondo being out. KG didn't look worse for wear.
KG is the only effective big we have to match up with teams going small. 4 perimeter players and Bass/Sullinger/etc. doesn't work for the C's.Garnett played a team high 38 minutes tonight. He's also been playing longer stretches recently since the lost to Sacramento.

Garnet has to play big minutes against good teams if the C's are going to win. ...at least until another BIG who can provide some stabilitiy in the paint. We have too many small forwards and not enough big guys with a game in the paint. Basically we have Sully...
KG really don't play offense in paint. One is not enought.I saw him repeatedly post up Chandler and Melo all night. I guess since he usually takes a turnaround out of his post ups you don't consider that as playing in the paint on offense?
So I'm watching the game on comcast now.
What the freaking hell. This games refereeing was a complete joke. I saw a pick by chandler where he didn't even try to sell it as legal he EXTENDS HIS ARMS AND PUSHES THE GUY AWAY.
Then don't even need to talk about Melo. Guy punches Terry in the face during a pushoff and no call. Pierce on the other end fights Carmelo for position and they foul him out of the quarter 3 minutes into the 3rd.
What a freaking joke the refing was.
Anyways, it goes without saying that the Knicks offense s all about shooting 3s and without that they are completely worthless. First half they were hot and were winning. then second half they went cold and look what happens. I can't wait for them to go one and done. Frauds.
Green had a matchup and took advantage. Also did a nice job on Carmelo from what I've seen so far. Nicely done.
Bradley started slow on offense but came around. Bradley is a franchise player. We can not trade this guy unless we're getting a legit superstar like Howard/LBJ etc. and for obvious reasons those guys aren't happening. Bradley and Rondo are our future. Find a big man somehow, someway but Rondo/Bradley are our future and can not be touched.
Pierce is the truth
KG is the big ticket and if we win a championship it's on his back that it happens.
typical Espn NOW hopping on the bandwagon ::)QuoteNow, in just four nights, Boston has beaten three of the East's top four teams. Last 3 games were great, but it wasn't more than a week ago that this blog was all but counting them done.If they go 4-1 or better on the homestand I'll start getting really excited. But that's about it.
I'd really like to see the C's do this for another 8 games before I start to get that same 'lightswitch' feeling I had last season.

That's a pretty classy response by Smith. Count me impressed.
