So, slow season on the blog -- trying to get a conversation going.

My friends and I got into a discussion about favorite songs to hear while driving (summer being the prime season for going out for a cruise behind the wheel).  There were some kicked around by my friends that didn't really do it for me but (sadly?) I could only come up with 3 that really inspired me to want to push the gas pedal a bit harder.
1. Radar Love by Golden Earring
2. Detroit Rock City  by Kiss
3. I can't drive 55 by Sammy Hagar.

anyone have anything they like to hear when behind the wheel?  just as a side mention, one of my friends came up with stuff he liked to listen to that made him mellow out behind the wheel that helped him get into more of a 'cruising' mood.  If that's your bag, share that too if you'd like.

Came here to specifically mention Radar Love, thinking it might not be a song known to many in the under 30 years of age group. Then see its mentioned in the OP. TP slam.

  • Yup
Pretty much any music that fits your taste played loud with the windows down on a nice day does the trick.

But for classic driving songs, maybe "Mobile" by the Who.

Yup

A few that come to mind:

Baba O'Riley - The Who
Club Can't Handle Me - Flo Rida
Summertime - Will Smith
Satisfaction - The Rolling Stones
The Age of Aquarius - The Fifth Dimension

And Rage Against the Machine when you need to do some aggressive driving (TP johnnygreen)

Great thread idea.

I'll go with Take it Easy by the Eagles.

Relatedly, I often have an hour commute now and was recommended to try books on tape.  Anyone know if there is a good and reasonably priced option out there?  Aubile sounds expensive.

Ummm...I more do entire albums, but I'll give this a shot.

Tested - Bad Religion
Superman - Goldfinger
Mercy Me - Alkaline Trio
Underclass Hero - Sum 41
Best God in Show - NOFX
Die for Your Government - Anti-Flag

I'll stop there. All pretty empowering and/or fun music to give me some energy for a good day (or night).
