If the Celtics can pay both Davis,  assuming the trade, and Kyrie on max deals, couldn't they "gauge" Cousin's interest, Kyrie's willingness to play with Cousins and sign, and then make FA Cousins a multi year offer better than the single year contract he's rumored to be considering again for next season and keep most of the team intact, sans Rozier who could be a sign and trade with some of the upcoming draft picks for higher future draft picks?

Cousins appears healthy, very similar stats as Davis, C's would be able to plan for a few years and Celts have enough talent to compete short and long term..imo

Kyrie, Brown, Tatum, Horford, Cousins..Smart Hayward, Morris, Baynes, Theis, Williams

Celtics have no cap space and will only have the taxpayer MLE of $5.4 million to offer.

If Boogie is healthy and playing well, he will want to get paid big time.

Thank you for the reply....If they sign Kyrie and then trade for Davis, they would still be responsible for AD's $25 mil, correct? How is paying Cousins any different?

AD and Boogie can only be acquired via trade and not sign as FA.

Boogie being a FA can sign anywhere to a team with capspace that can pay him..we are not one of those teams.

My opinion is that Cousins is plan B if the Davis trade doesn't happen

Really???

How so???

How exactly are they going to acquire Boogie and more importantly, why? They didn't try to get him when Cousins was healthy and killing it. They won't be after him now.

I understand what you're saying...could still make salary room minus Rozier and others, and aren't Baynes, Morris, Theis FA...I guess what I should've said is, it is possible to have Kyrie, Cousins, Smart, Tatum, Hayward, Brown, Williams but would have to move Horford (or Hayward) somewhere somehow...use 1st rd Celtic, Clippers,  and Kings pick as incentives..keep Memphis pick.

You really need to become better acquainted with the NBA salary cap. I recommend this site.

Ok..thank you..I will take a closer look at the cap info but have to believe there's a way to  make salaries work to get a similar talent for more than a rental who will definitely cost young talent and picks.

I feel DA needs to come to the realization that Davis doesn't want to play in Boston.

A Boogie Cousins who is healthy and sane is a perfect fit for this team.

That is a bit of a gamble, especially considering he's slow and can't defend on the perimeter to save his life. Al's ability to defend out to the 3 is key to our defence, so not sure how Boogie is perfect for this team.

KG didn't want to play here either.

No, and for so many reasons. If Cousins doesn't earn himself a big contract this year then he won't be worth having around, even on a minimum deal. If he does play well and earns that big contract then the C's can pay him.

And most importantly, I don't want that guy on my team, regardless of contract.
