Brad says that Kemba could miss 1 to 2 weeks, depending on how the knee responds.

They don't believe the ASG had anything to do with it however, and according to Brad if the knee had been swollen after the Clippers game Walker would not have played the ASG. But it wasn't, so he did. I'd imagine he wanted to, Kobe tribute and all.

Some of us sitting in our loungerooms far away from Chicago following the fates of the Celtics on a game by game basis may disagree

Quote
MINNEAPOLIS — Celtics point guard Kemba Walker had his troublesome left knee drained and received an anti-inflammatory injection after returning from All-Star weekend in Chicago.

Slowed by knee pain for much of this season, Walker complained of more extensive swelling this time. He also underwent an MRI that did not reveal any structural issues, but he missed Friday’s 127-117 victory against the Timberwolves.

While the team does not believe this is a serious issue, there is a chance Walker could be sidelined for a week or two, coach Brad Stevens said.

Walker played about 32 minutes in Sunday’s All-Star Game, including all of an intense, untimed fourth quarter in which he was on the court for about 15 minutes of game time. He insisted on Friday that the game did not cause this latest setback.

“The double-overtime game [against the Clippers last Thursday], the flight, having to wake up early, be on my feet all day. It’s not much rest like everybody else got. That could’ve been part of it as well” he said. “It’s not the game specifically that’s got my knee feeling like this. It’s been bothering me for quite some time now.”

Stevens said that if the swelling had presented itself prior to the All-Star game, Walker would not have played.

It's great how we kept hearing "this team just needs rest, and the all-star break's gonna be great for them to get rested up and healed" ... and then this happens.
"There are two kinds of people: those who say to God, 'Thy will be done,' and those to whom God says, 'All right, then, have it your way.'"

this seems like they are engaged in a lot of double talk. Brad says it is not a big deal, but the bottom line is Synvisc injections are not a joke. They are a couple of steps away from getting knee surgery. Did yall see where it says the injection is used to treat osteoarthritis? That is no joke.

Kemba says ASG did not have any effect on the knee, that it must have been the flight, lack of rest, etc. Well, if taking a flight and lack of rest caused a flare up how is it that going full speed in a game had no effect?

Thanks, Nick Nurse (of the EC #2 Raptors), for playing Kemba (and all of the other starters) way too many minutes in meaningless All-Star game. Kemba, especially, was struggling in the 4th and should have been pulled much earlier just due to performance.

I am okay with Kemba making an appearance and playing for short stretches, but guys shouldn't have had to go that hard for such an extended period of time during that game. Hopefully Kemba is okay and will get healthy for the end of the season, but we have a brutal stretch ahead of us and we may not have our All-NBA PG for any of it.

Don't think it would be fair to point a finger at Nick Nurse. The C's gave Kemba the green light to play as many minutes as he wanted in the all-star game. How was Nurse supposed to know that Kemba was injured? If you ask me, it's either nobody's fault cause there was no way to predict the problem (like CBS said) or it's our medical staff's fault.

Just heard Kemba could be out two weeks.  It just gets uglier.  Unfortunate.  Will see more playmaking from Smart and Hayward in short term.  More minutes for BW, which is will fulfill very well.

These folks must think all fans are ignorant, getting a Synvisc injection is no joke. The administration of this injection suggests that he has chronic knee problems. They are usually given in sets of three, and a failure to give relief may indicate need for surgery.

If Kemba's knee issue persists I wonder if they will go to the PRP injections next, but from all indication that will have to be in the off-season.
