So, I've been trying to use these stats for some analysis and something isn't right.  Pace = possessions per 48 minutes and OEff = points per 100 possessions, then shouldn't it be true that points per game = pace x OEff/100 ?  Same with points allowed per game = pace x DEff/100 ?

By the definition of those stats, I feel it should be the case.  However, I've gotten pace, OEff, and DEff stats from two different sites... both sadly give different numbers for all the stats, but whats worse is that neither of them actually give the correct ppg or points allowed per game when I enter the data into those equations.

Can anybody help me figure out which site is most accurate and why these formulas aren't adding up?

The sites I've used are - http://www.nbastuffer.com/2013-2014_NBA_Regular_Season_Advanced_Stats.html and http://espn.go.com/nba/hollinger/teamstats/

While I can't help you, because I'm awful at math, I'm very interested in the explanations from the people who can.
At least a goldfish with a Lincoln Log on its back goin' across your floor to your sock drawer has a miraculous connotation to it.

Top of my head, I have a couple of thoughts.

1) Pace isn't an official stat, so it is sometimes approximated by deriving the number of possessions from made shots, missed shots with defensive rebounds, and turnovers.  This is especially true going back in time, when play-by-play data doesn't exist.  Some sites may use that method for all their stats, to be consistent, whereas others may use play-by-play data for current year stuff.

2) Overtime games can mess up your points per game numbers, since pace is normalized to 48 minutes.
