Title: Kostas Politis passes away at 76
Post by: greece66 on June 27, 2018, 09:42:47 AM
He is mostly remembered for coaching the Greek national team that won the Eurobasket in 1987.

Before becoming a coach, he played as point guard in Panathinaikos and the national selection.

Other than the national team, he also coached Panathinaikos, PAOK, AEK and Near East. The latter has an interesting American connection, as it originally was the team of the Near East Foundation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Near_East_Foundation), a humanitarian organization based in New York.
