Where's Nash and Hakeem?

EDIT: Pau probably deserves a bench slot too.

Given the list it would seem he is excluding anyone that went to college/high school in the US, thus no Nash or Hakeem.  Aside from the 3 guys you mention,  I think you could make strong cases for these guys who were also foreign born i.e. Marc Gasol, Deng, AK47, Kiki Vandeweghe, Rik Smits, Horford, Rolando Blackman, Yao, Dikembe, and heck even Patrick Ewing wasn't born in the US.

Without more guidelines you just don't know what you are looking at, but I'd put a team of Nash, Manu, Deng, Pau, and Hakeem with a rotation of Ewing, Dikembe, AK47, Kiki, Horford, M. Gasol, Blackman, Yao, etc. up against just about any team any one else would put out there and feel really good about my chances, especially under US rules where my big guys could dominate.
2023 Historical Draft - Brooklyn Nets - 9th pick

Bigs - Pau, Amar'e, Issel, McGinnis, Roundfield
Wings - Dantley, Bowen, J. Jackson
Guards - Cheeks, Petrovic, Buse, Rip

I thought that at first too, but Detlef Schrempf went to Washington and Andrew Gaze attended Seton Hall.

Yes,i was thinking about guys who learned basketball outside USA, so i should not include Schrempf...Somehow couldn't put Gasol here...I see him as a center and think Sabonis, Divac and Čosić were better players...and he's a Faker...

But ok...Gasol in, Schrempf out...

Peace :)

No worries man, it's always fun to discuss this stuff.  Beats another endless "tanking" debate any day  :)

Galis was born in in NY (definately US) and attended Seaton Hall. He is by far the best non NBA guard. IMHO Red was wrong about him.

I makes you a bit sad realizing the amazing talent from former Yugoslavia countries compared to todays players....

Thank you for placing Oscar Schmidt in there. Hes a Brazilian that was truly great and a machine during the Olympics. He never played in the NBA at the time, not sure if it was the time or hed rather develop the game in europe. Anyway, unfortunately now he has cancer and was at the HOF receiving an award from Larry Bird not too long ago.

My first thought was I couldn't see Manu getting beaten out by Sarunas, but I have to say I think back in the early 90s NBA teams didn't have a good idea of how to use euros and euros didn't have a good idea of how to play here. I think if you put Sarunas into now and put Manu into then the situation might be reversed.
