Mavs will be the team with the largest cap room and the biggest hole in the team is their centre position.

- Cousins is obviously the most talented but coming off a major injury and Carlisle history with difficult players he is a huge risk.

- Deja Vu with Jordan who i think should opt out, can be a major boost for their weak defence but is obviously limited on the offensive end.

- Randle could make a great centre for them but can he be consistent enough for a team who wants to compete now?

- Capela is a long shot as I assume Rockets will match but he would be the best fit IMO with a potential starting five of Capela, Barnes, Doncic, Matthews, Smith with Dirk off the bench.

Any of the 3 that aren’t Randle. I think those bigs would be awesome in the middle surrounded by Doncic, DSJ and Harrison Barnes.

Anyone who can rebound, defend inside and score inside is what they should look for. Obviously DeMarcus is the most talented, but also the riskiest. If I were them I’d prpbably target Capela or DMC, but they can’t really go wrong after their awesome draft night trade
'23 Historical Draft: Orlando Magic.

PG: Terry Porter (90-91) / Steve Francis (00-01)
SG: Joe Dumars (92-93) / Jeff Hornacek (91-92) / Jerry Stackhouse (00-01)
SF: Brandon Roy (08-09) / Walter Davis (78-79)
PF: Terry Cummings (84-85) / Paul Millsap (15-16)
C: Chris Webber (00-01) / Ralph Sampson (83-84) / Andrew Bogut (09-10)

Lakers have the largest cap space.

Don't see any reason for the Mavs to spend much on a center this offseason.  Nobody they get would put them in the playoffs. I'd pass on all 4 players that you mentioned.  I'd see what Denver would give up to get off of Faried's contract.

You’re giving a pick outside the top 5 to Atlanta, and with the change in the lottery, it is very difficult to tank enough to keep that pick.

DeAndre Jordan because .... I can't see Capela leaving Houston. I am scared of that Cousins injury. I don't think that is a good gamble. Randle is not even in the conversation.

Why not Dwight Howard? Don't see that much difference between him and DeAndre Jordan but Howard will be much cheaper

Because Howard will wear out his welcome by the allstar break of his first year in Dallas.

Carlisle couldn't get along with Rondo. Can you imaging Carlisle and Howard?

I'm not sure they are considering Cousins but we don't even know if it's hard to get along with Cousins. He certainly got along well in New Orleans. It may be more perception than reality with him. It's reality with Rondo/Carlisle and it's reality with Howard and LA/HOU & CHA.

Yup. Mavs should save money for next offseason, or better yet rent it for picks. That's usually the best move early in a rebuild which, sadly, they are. They just need more assets most right now.

of those choices

Randle is the most Mavs like player ....because Houston is no way giving up Capela ....that would sink their title chances totally ...he anchors the defense , can't do without him

Cousins might not benthe force he was , and unknown how he ll react to a REAL coach ,  he did not like authority coaches at Sac at all. .  Maybe he has done some sould searching in his time away . I don't see RC inviting issues ,given the past.

I expect Mavs owner is done with Jordon .  Embrasssing situation .

Unless they can snag a bit time FA, they need to start the rebuild. Dirk is a shadow of the shadow of his former self. They need some one to carry that team, and Barnes isn't it. I don't see them being able grab any one that moves the needle.

But with Smith/Barnes/Doncic thats a good young core, add Randle to that, it would be a pretty good start to a rebuild.
