I do a double take every time someone writes that their from Plymouth or Cambridge, until I see the state initials.
The original Boston, in a county called Lincolnshire, is not too far from where I live. It couldn't be more diffrent from the US Boston, it's a small rural town with a population of about 35,000. It's known as the 'fattest town' in England.

if my hometown history is correct, I believe the original Plymouth was simply located at the "mouth" of the river Ply - is that right?
I live in Bermuda now, but I'm originally from the States. What do you want in terms of "Where are you from?" Where I was born? Where I grew up? Where I went to school?
btw - when you say Cambridge, do you mean Cambridge, MA or Cambridge, UK (or some other Cambridge)

I used to live in a tiny little town named Edwards, New York (so tiny that K-12 for it and another town all go to the same school, Edwards-Knox). It was maybe 20 minutes from Govenor (sp?), and a half hour from Canton. We went to Potsdam and Odgensburg fairly often (and Massena and Watertown, too.)

Roy, I am from the country, but Edwards is so country I feel like they've outlawed cars and made it so only 4-wheelers and snowmobiles are allowed to travel towns.

Feel free to tell me all that you want me to know ;) I'm not from Copenhagen originally but I now reside in Amager (thus "Amager Celtic Fan") which is a part of Copenhagen. I've lived in too many places to list them all here, though never outside of Denmark...

Thanks for the TP.
You deserve one yourself for starting an interesting topic and for representing the Celtics in Denmark.

It definitely counts, 3.0...who would I have to argue with? ;D

This is a wonderful thread. As Jeff indicated, we regularly receive visitors from over 100 countries around this old world. I would expand a bit on that. The numbers Jeff provided reflect a very short range sample. I would add that internet visitation numbers are notoriously skewed also and the issue becomes greater the further away from the U.S. the statistics are gathered.
For an example, we know we have some "unique visits" and "unique visitors" that may in fact represent dozens if not hundreds of individuals connecting to CB on multiple occasions. So for instance, when we see visitors from Yemen, we don't know if we are seeing one American abroad just checking in, or a large number of local persons as well who love basketball and are hooking up with us on a regular basis.
Here's another interesting tidbit. Any sampling of CelticsBlog visitation will produce a list of at least fifty language variations. Yep, that's not a typo folks. The top ten include two forms of English, two forms of Spanish, French, Italian, German, Chinese, Portuguese and a large number of computers that are configured to handle many languages. After those ten, the list becomes truly fascinating.
There's an interesting offshoot from this as well. You wouldn't believe how much our auto-translation service is used. Thanks to Google providing developers like myself with access to their technology, we currently offer automatic translation of around 99% of everything in this website into nine different languages.
It is not a perfect system. The translations are not always the best and are for the most part "read only". Still, they have expanded the usability of CelticsBlog in a major way and many people put them to good use. When Google finishes the testing of their new Arabic translation system, I look forward to adding it to our website.
In my years, I've done some touring of the Earth. I won't recount those excursions here other than to say they occupy nearly all of the top rankings of profound experiences I've been granted in this life. Thus when I come to CelticsBlog, there is nothing more special to me than seeing the constituency of this assemblage. Yo Denmark, Yo Yemen, Yo Puerto Rico. Thank you all for the blessing of your presence in this place.
BTW, I'm originally from Kentucky, USA. Naturally, that explains my obsession with basketball.

this happened to me in antigua, but i was in a rental car! lol not only do u drive on the opposite side of the road, u sit on the opposite side of the car while doing it! almost hit cars, people, goats, dogs, etc! the force wasnt strong with me that week, lol.

The hardest thing about driving on the other street is actually (at least for me) is not being in the other lane, but the blinkers and windshield wipers are on the opposite side of the steering wheel. Every time I want to make a turn, my wipers come on. That's frustrating. Driving a stick with your left hand was actually not as hard as I thought, and I've only turned into the wrong late twice. But the [dang] wipers......
Also, I heard when I was in Greece that the number 1 cause of death for American tourists in Greece is moped accidents.
If you are in downtown Paris and need to cross the street, move with the herd. That is the only way to cross a downtown street in Paris and live to see the other side. Try to stay in the middle of the pack. It is the safest place for you. French drivers will never attack the herd as a whole. Even though they have superior advantage, they realize that direct, forceful attack against such a large group might inadvertently result in some personal injury to themselves. So when the herd moves, they stop, lay back, churn out hydrocarbons and wait for the central portion to pass so they can then pick off all the young, old, sick and weak stragglers.
I'm from the place where American Patriots first struck against the crown by attacking and sinking the hated British revenue schooner HMS Gaspee in 1772, which started the process that lead to the American Revolution - Pawtuxet Villiage, Rhode Island.
That darn Boston Tea Party )1773) must have had a better publicist.
Before I get bombarded with angry PMs.....
That was a joke. ;)

I think Amager asked this question..Along these lines, I'm thinking it could be fun to see who are the CelticsBlog posters who live closest to the North and South Poles...?Thanks Migman, TP 4 U ;) You now have the honor of being the "southern-est" (hey, I just invented a new word!!!) poster on CelticsBlog ;D To the rest of you, keep it coming! We still have time to kill until November ::)
I'm Dunedin, New Zealand.. if not closest to the South Pole, it must be one of the closest. Its 45° 52' South, ther maybe another Kiwi who's further south or perhaps someone from the Southern tip of South America (Or even someone based in one of the bases in Antartica maybe) ;D

Surprising that there aren't more visits from Croatia, Serbia etc. One would certainly expect more hits from those countries than from a tiny country like Israel. Same for Greece.
Staten Island, NYWell, skĺl there! We're at least two fans here in Denmark, myself and then MiniBird ;) Do you know where your grandmother and her family came from in Denmark? Would be fun to hear...

I'm happy to know that there are C's fans in Denmark. My grandmother's family was from Denmark and I always had a facination with the country.

Yes, there is a way we can depict where everyone is from...even graphically. I'm waiting on some next phase things for CB though before we do that. Part of that will require more money and part of it will require me talking Google into letting me run tens of thousands of SQL queries on their GeoMap servers each day without CB having to pay exorbitant licensing fees. So no sweat. This too will come in time. Thanks Bob!From Westford, MA, graduated from Syracuse this past May, and am entering my 5th week of work for a financial software company in South Boston.Congratulations!
Wow, I can't believe all the countries that are represented here. Is there a way to sort/view the entire list?
Keep it coming y'all!

Just a note. There is a new drop down field in the Forum Profile Information section of your member profile that will allow you to choose a country field to display in your posts. Given how many international members we have in addition to our American members, I thought we all might enjoy this small feature. :)
Well, sorry about that. Something screwy is going on with that modification. The field in profiles just disappeared. I uninstalled the mod. I think I may shut the site down late tonight and do a bit of maintenance work on the forums. I have a couple of things I want to clean out of it anyway. I may have the flags back by tomorrow morn.Just a note. Those flags really killed my thread ;)I don't know that I'd recognize a Massachusetts state flag if I saw one (of course I could read it, but you know what I mean)
But then again, maybe this thread helped the "birth" of those flags, so it's okay.
I've got an idea, though:
How about making state flags a possibility for all you Americans? We all know Stars & Stripes but it would be fun to see all those state flags, too. If American CB posters still want their national flag then that's cool. I just think it would be fun seeing all you guys reppin' your state flags :)

I chose to use it as an indication of ethnicity, not the country I'm from.
Hope that doesn't break the rules...

I would like to address both Amager and Stojko here. Amager, I can't do the states flag thing yet, but I will look into getting the forums to display location (city, state) info in topic posts. Those flags really killed my thread ;)

Stojko, it is fine that you wish to relate with Armenia. As we are seeing in this thread, we come from many different places. Many of us have lived in or been strongly influenced/molded by a number of different places or people from them. There may be many reasons we associate more with one source of our roots than another. Doing so seems a very natural thing.

3922 members -700+ since I joined in August. The following membership numbers listed to the right of the months listed below date back to when I first started developing CB v.3.0 last October. The numbers are current up to 10:16 AM EST, December 6, 2007. Note that we actually launched CB3 on December 30, 2006. CB3 was a complete re-engineering of CelticsBlog based on entirely new technologies. Those still serve us in CB v.4.0 and should continue to do so for a long time. The new CelticsBlog will celebrate the first anniversary of its public launch on the 30th of this month. We've averaged around ten or eleven new members per day over the 14+ months since the site's development began. Averages since launch date would be a bit higher of course.
I don't know the average number of people joining each month.
It would be fun to see, though.
And remember to keep tellin' me where you're from ;)
PS: Did anyone see those vintage BOSTON jerseys?! S-W-E-E-T!
Im From My Mother!Sorry, but we don't have a Mother flag. However, she probably had you somewhere so you can still choose a national flag. I encourage every CB member to add your nation's flag to your member profile. You can do so in the "Forum Profile Information" area of your profile. Dig around, you'll find it. ;) The international diversity here is a beautiful thing.

I just found out the other day that there's
a small Danish tv channel (DK4) that actually
SHOWS NBA BASKETBALL!!!!!!!!!! :P I was just
laying in my bed, flickin' through the channels
-all 38 of them, which is what you get with cable
here in Copenhagen- and suddenly I see Chris Paul
driving to the hoop against Houston. Needless to say
I was psyched, since the last time I watched a live
game was when Philly played the Lakers in the Finals
waaaaaay back...
Anyway: DK4 will show a game each Sunday and sometimes
also on Fridays and/or Saturdays. Up until now I've had
to settle for highlights, game threads and then of course
YouTube clips. I thought about doing a thread for this but
figured I might as well keep this thread (my baby)
going by sharing this with all of you.
I don't know when they'll broadcast the C's but I'm pretty
sure I'll be watching, even if I have to get up at 3 am ;D

I recall a time in London when I was with some of my American friends. We were coming out of the Tube when an older gentleman overheard their accents. He come over with a big smile and asked them if they had seen the "werewolf". My friends, being young (High School), were completely clueless as to what he was asking. He took one look at their faces and burst out laughing. I had to explain to them that he was referencing the movie An American Werewolf In London.
Upon typing this, the memory is a lot funnier than what I can express in words. Thought I would share never the less....
Just bumping this one up, since it's been
quite some time...
Now, where are YOU from? :)

How similar is the Santa Barbara weather to that of Santa Monica? As a big-time Dodger fan, I've stayed in Santa Monica for a couple of my trips out to Chavez Ravine and absolutely loved it there. Just a beautifully crisp, clean feel to the air all the time.

P.S. Pardon my general lack of knowledge of the Santa-related geography in Cali. I'm really going to feel like a fool when they are right next to each other.
I was born in Managua, Nicaragua. I live in Costa Rica since 1985.

I am from Mos Eisley, Tatooine, which is known to many as a pirate city. Overrun by criminal transients on the lam, Mos Eisley has been described as a wretched hive of scum and villainy. Mos Eisley is one of the largest spaceports on Tatooine. Its architecture is typical of the Tatooine style -- blockhouses largely sunken into the sand, providing some respite from the relentless desert suns. The city is arranged in a wheel formation, with the central power and water distribution plants at its hub. Circular docking bays and landing pads dot the city, and the sky is busy with interstellar traffic.

They aren't that much different (about an hour apart I think). Basically the difference between Santa Barbara and the other oceanside paradises on the California coast (Santa Monica, Malibu, San Diego, etc...) is that the highs in a Santa Barbara stay around 85-90, as opposed to the 90-95+ in the LA/San Diego areas.
edit - just looked, the highest normal high in Santa Barbara 78 in August, and the lowest norm low is 40 (meaning no overnight freezes) in January. Santa Monica gets mid-80s on the beach, but mid to high 90s inland.

I have a buddy that use to hang out at a cantina there. But one night he got a little wasted, bumped into a young farm boy, and then suddenly got his arm cut off by this old wizard. Luckily for him, they have made alot of progress with the biomechanical technology to create a life-like appendage that works just as well as the original.

This is too weird, man! I knew this guy - a transporter, mainly, (yeah, right ... really a pirate, if you ask me) - who had this bucket-of-bolts ship he called the Phoenix ... no, the Falcon - yeah, that was it - the Millenium Falcon, (where do these guys get these names?!?!)
Anyway, this hunk-of-junk freighter was held together with bantha-glue and minoch saliva, but it was still dressed out with hyper-drive, and as fast as any in the quadrant ... maybe the galaxy.
Well, this old barge had supposedly made the Kessel Run in some un-godly time, so this guy, (the captain/owner), Han I think his name was, (no "s" ... he always made a point of saying that, don't ask me why), would hang around in these back-alley cantinas on Mos Eisley, waiting for some desperate spacer to show up with a sob-story and a pocket-full of Imperial credits, (then do his best to drain 'em of every one, so he could turn around and blow 'em all on the pod races).
So the last time I was in Mos Eisley, (looking for a bio-splice for my lady's jack-unit), I run into ol' Han, and he tells me he's got this "sure thing", and that he just needs a "small bump" of credits to get this giant slug Jabba off his back long enough to get the Falcon to Alderan and back. Well, I dunno where the heck this rancor-bait has been for the last hundred revs, but wherever it is, they obviously don't have enough e-links to know the real deal, or else he's been spiked on jawa juice long enough to melt Hoth!
Anyway, I proceed to inform him that he might as well forget his little romp to Alderan, 'cuz whatever he was after there is now space-dust, (along with Alderan itself). Well, he starts laughing his you-know-what off, saying that's the best one he's heard all week, and that he's got some big hairy friend who'd love to hear it, too.
Only problem is I'm not laughing with him ... in fact I'm not even grinning, and when he starts to realize this, the laughter fades, and his face turns as cold as nitrogen. Next thing I know, he's shaking a blaster in my face, saying how's I'd better not waste any more of his "precious" time, (yeah ... he used air-quotes, but only one hand, 'cuz the other was on the blaster, can you believe that?!?), or else I'll get to know what a particle beam tastes like ... for the first and last time.
Well, as depressed as I am from just being in this hind-end of space, that bit of info doesn't cheer me up too much. And even though I can see the warm glow of neutrons jumping the gap of his trigger mechanism, I've still gotta fill this pirate in, whether my medulla oblongata survives or not.
So, I start tellin this asteroid how the Empire's got this new toy, and that one of the mucky-mucks was tryin' to make a big wave with this Princess What's-her-name, and Alderan was the casualty. Well ... he's still standin' there, with this Tusken Raider look on his face, and the blaster switch is starting to glow red, (and is now close enough to smell - and neutrons ain't roses, baby!), so I figure I've still got AU's to cover and press on.
So then I say I'm not messin' with him, and that the mucky-muck general has got a "size problem", if he knows what I mean, (and I wink here), and that he was trying to make a point and impress this Princess, by blowing Alderan into oblivion with this new toy the Empire gave him to play with.
Well, the Tusken Raider look is still plastered to his cratered mug, and the blaster's now beginning to make that little rumbling sound, (you know, the one it makes right before it "pops"), and I figure I've got nothing to lose at this point, so what the heck. So then I take my thumb, ('cuz the apertures on these new PB's is BIG, man!), and I lick it real casual-like, and just stick it in the end of the blaster ... like so.
Well ... I dunno what reaction I was looking for, but it certainly wasn't the one I got. Slowly the Sand-people vacancy leaves his face, and one corner of his mouth curls, (just the tiniest bit), and he just lets go of the blaster, so I'm left standing there with the glowing, rumbling particle-beam weapon stuck to my thumb. Well, by now the gap on the switch is a steady stream, and my thumb is getting all warm and tingly, and it's spreading to the rest of my hand, and up my arm.
I know what you're thinking, 'cuz I was thinking it, too: Why the heck in all of space is the crazy thing still engaged, if he's not holding the trigger mechanism? So now I'm the one with the Sand-Raider look on my face, and he's standing there with that curled lip, kind of glancing from side-to-side, and muttering the name "Guido" under his breath ... over-and-over, real slow, like. My hand is completely numb now, up to my elbow, and it's right then, when I'm about to reach up with my other hand and pull the thing off, that I see it: The lousy space-pirate's got a beam key, and it's synced with the PB stuck to my thumb.
Well, I figure at this point that I'm pretty much Ton-ton poo-doo, and that for some reason beyond my lacking, this guy has set me up! All manner of bizarre musings are swirling in my skull, like this guy's on dark-matter capsules, or he mistakes me for some henchman that the Hutt slug has after him, or that he plans on stealing my Nubian cruiser, or that maybe ... just maybe, he's a left-over from the Clone Wars who's dealing with some major PTSD.
Anyway, just when the numbness begins to reach my shoulder, and I think he's ready to bolt and detonate the beam-key from a safe distance, in walks this cloaked old guy with a beard as white as Imperial armor, and a light-saber hanging from his belt. That's right, a light-saber! Here, standing in this dump of a dive in the rear-end of space-ports, is a freaking Jedi! Well [dang]ed if I know what he was doing there, but after the last twnety minutes of dealing with Captain Crater-brain, I was just happy for a break in the monotany!
So over saunters this old Jedi, like he owns the place, (you know that swagger they have), and stops about six feet from the two of us, and looks us each up and down, his eyes coming to rest on the glowing blaster, which is now rumbling louder than ever. Well ... I don't know what these two jumpers were up to, but it was clear they knew each other, and it was clear this meeting was not a total surprize. Without saying a word, the Jedi, with his left hand resting on the hilt of the light-saber, just raises his right hand ever so slightly, wiggles the very tip of his index finger, and the blaster just pops from my thumb, (with a sound like popping your cheek), and drops to the floor ... cold as ice!
Now, don't get me wrong, I was extremely pleased to have that stupid thing off my thumb, and have the life slowly returning to my hand and arm. But the attitude of these Jedi ... well, it just gets to me somehow. I mean, here we were, having a perfectly confusing, life-threatening encounter, and in walks this "robed royalty" of the Force, who just wags his little pointer and ruins the whole thing! Who do they think they are? Guardians of the Galaxy or something? (Oh, yeah ... I guess they are). Well, despite that, I didn't like the interference, and by a glance at Han, I knew he wasn't real pleased with how things were turning out, either.
He was now looking like he had just given birth to an Ewok, and though his lip was still curled, a small bit of clear liquid was escaping from the corner, and it wasn't enhancing his appearance, if you know what I mean. Whatever the "robed one" had on him, it was obviously time to pay up, and the coffers were empty. Well, whatever the reason, and whatever the intent, it was very clear that I was now just an observer ... and I didn't like it ... not one bit.
But, even though my mind raced with thoughts of derring-do, (like rolling on the floor, grabbing the PB, jumping up, and wasting the lot ... or doing a flip in mid-air, disarming the Jedi, and landing with a defensive stance), I was forced to resort to collecting my pride and leaving. Now, some say I actually ran from the place, but I don't see how they can know, with it being so dark and everything. And I've heard stories over the years of what took place there after I left - harrowing tales of intense light-saber battles, of limbs being removed, of giant slugs and rancors, of the Almighty Carnac and indigestion ... but I don't take them seriously.
Whatever it was that Han wanted from me, I'll never know, and whatever it was that was going on between the two of them, will remain a mystery. But the thing that really gets to me ... late at night when my mind is restless and I can't sleep, is what it was that was so important to Han on Alderan ... what it was he lost, that made him feel so compelled to risk both our lives to resolve it. I'll never know, I guess, because they say he's still on Tatooine, in Mos Eisley, and that's one place I'm not visiting again ... ever! Hey ... know anyone who'd like a Nubian Cuiser ... real cheap?
(Thanks for indulging my sci-fi musings ... I couldn't help myself!)
LOL! Thanks, Steve ... I'm still laughing from your reply ... I needed a smile or two ... TP for cheering me up! Dunno what came over me, just had to purge or something, and I assumed it would never be seen much, but would fade away in the wee hours. Thanks again, Friend!
I'm orginally from Austin Texas, then I moved to Dallas Texas. I moved to Vegas when I was seveteen. Then moved to Lincoln Nebraska to go to college. I became a Celtics fan because I loved big twelve basketball and Kansas was so good. I became a Paul Pierce fan watching him against Texas. Ever since the C's drafted him, I have been a fan.

Unfortunately for you, in TPD's mind, this means you are not a real Celtics fan.
Shame on you, Redz! ;)
But I like the fact that you've
got a town called Sandwich as well
as Dennis, East Dennis and Dennis
Port in there, too ;D
The thread that never dies!
Hey Bob, is there any way you can get another breakdown like this but up through June? I'd love to see the June numbers. Even a daily breakdown would be cool. I'm guessing June 17/18 would break records for new members. Thanks if you can!3922 members -700+ since I joined in August.

wow, oct/nov 2006 was terrible months hahaThe forum stats begin when I started building CelticsBlog v.3.0 in the last week of October of 2006. The site made its public debut on December 30, 2006. What we call CelticsBlog version 2.0 -- two WordPress blogs and phpBB2 forums -- were where all of the action was taking place. The majority of the membership numbers shown for December 2006 and January 2007 were made up of existing CB2 members who registered anew with CB3.

I'm amazed at how few C-bloggers come from the Boston area. Up until I came to this blog, I always thought that all Celtics fans were from New England. I guess this shows the power of the Internet (or my ignorance). I'd be curious to see a thread about why people (not from NE) became Celtics fans. I don't believe that it just happens if you live in a place like Nebraska. You need either a Boston connection or a family member who rooted for the team while you were growing up or a dream to be Larry Bird.

I can't see how I've missed this topic.. but!
I'm born and raised in Denmark, living north of Copenhagen. Been a Celts fan since the dreadful year of 2004, so I'm not as oldschool as many of you..
I guess the dane-count is around 4 or 5 people now, am I right Amager Celtic Fan? :D
I am from Sudan, and been big fans of celtics, sox and pats ever since. i never feel like celtics were ever a worse team, and i used to get mad when sport expert (?) talk bad about the team. well we are the champion now and next year so on. GO CELTICS!
Well, WHO are the other two?! ;)
As far as I know, it's you, me and
Dybdal? Maybe Bob Day can help :)
Confirmed. MiniBird (http://www.celticsblog.com/index.php?option=com_smf&Itemid=64&action=profile;u=3259) is connecting from Denmark.Well, WHO are the other two?! ;)

Yeah, Dybdal is "number 3", MiniBird or something like that is around as well. I think I've seen someone else, but might be my mind playing tricks!
But sadly the "hardcore" danish fanbase is rather small, guess we have to realise that :)

Sorry, but right now CelticsBlog doesn't provide us with any way to sort or filter members by country. The good news is that I do plan on providing us ways to do that in CB5. In the new site members will have member profiles much different from and much more extensive than what we currently have in CB4. Included in those will be some optional fields where members can provide information about what country, state/province, and probably actual geocode (location code) -- all of which we all can use to search and sort. It should make finding members by country and so on pretty easy.
I talked to Google a little over a year and a half ago about us being able to use Google geomaps to map out where members where located around the world. What I wanted to do was create a live AJAX world map that could be rotated and zoomed that would show this info. The idea was to be able to have popups for each person that would provide just a bit of information about each as well as provide links to each member profile.
At the time they told me that our membership was just too large for us to use their geomapping services for free due to the load it would put on their mapping servers. They also said though that if I would take them up on their offer of becoming a fully-sanctioned Google Developer, they would cut me a deal on the geomapping. All I had to do was send them a check for $12,000 USD once a year for the privilege. Needless to say I told them "thanks but no thanks" and graciously bowed out of the offer. I will check back with them again when I get some geocode tools in CB5 and will look for some geomapping alternatives to Google as well.

Hi!
I was born in Greece but I now live in Budapest, Hungary. Before coming here, I went to college in upstate NY and then in Waltham, MA. Have been a New England sport's fan since I do not know when, and I was lucky enough to go to a couple of celtics games (but unfortunately before the good times that started last year). But it was good fun, I had seats almost next to the roof so I can relate to the picture on the front page :)

Hey guys!
I've just signed up on this great blog, though I've been reading it for months now. I'm French and so as you can guess I live in France, and I hope you'll excuse my english which may be poor sometimes! :P
I've discovered the NBA about 3 years ago, my favourite team at the time were the Suns. When I found that the "Big Three" was build last summer, I began watching the Celtics' games, though I hadn't seen Pierce, Garnett and Allen play before that, so I discovered the three of them for the first time as Celtics... I was amazed by the collective game and the quality basket-ball played by the team so I enjoyed it and then I became a fan. Watching C's' games at 3 am (thanks to the time difference) is now something usual for me. ;D
Needless to say that the 2008 championship was really great, and that I hope that the Celtics can repeat this year!
See you on the forum!

Hey Everybody!
Im from southern california, about 30 mins outside LA. I became a celtics fan in about 2000. ive always hated the lakers as long as i can remember for whatever reason, which drew me to the celtics watching old clips of larry and magic. its difficult only being able to watch lakers or clippers while i wait for the next celtics game to be on national coverage. i recently discovered this blog and it has been a godsend in helping me keep up with my beloved celtics. so thanks to everyone who runs this blog and GO CELTICS!

Almost no one here cares about the Celtics, and it's really sad. It's all Patriots and Redsox. Way too many bandwagon jumpers in this area too (Kobe and Lebron fans). A few years ago, I was probably 1 of 4 people in this city that watched every celtic game I could.

Agreed, I go to UMass, and a lot of my friends from western mass either don't care about the Celtics or for some reason sweat Kobe. These are also the same people who told me Tyler Hansbrough wasn't a top 3 player on his own team.
Im from mexico.. ( 3 hours from LA )almost everybody here is laker fan.. I started as a kid watching larry bird .. etc.. became a die hard fan since.. go celtics!!!

I've lived in 13 places since I was born.
West Palm Beach?
West Palm Beach?

Welcome! And here's your first "Tommy Point", (it's a way we reward each other around here). I'm from Maine, and as a matter of fact, most of my friends here are from other countries, (Denmark, Netherlands, US, El Salvador, Israel, Philippines, Mexico, Japan, China, England, Scotland, and on and on), and we probably have one of the most diverse groups of bloggers in the sports world .... it matters not here, because we're all just sharing in our love of the Celtics. We hope you'll stick around and become a "regular" ... I think you'll be glad you did!

It's tough being a Celtics fan in the middle east, not much of a community, and east coast games begin at 3:30AM, but still, celtic tough all the way!

Seeing this thread again reminded me of this little story I had fun with, and I don't think I ever thanked you (SW) for your appreciation of my fits of absurd imagination, (which usually took place late at night, when we seemed to be the only two on the site - and often were) ... I miss those days, your column "The Daily Babble", and your stories of The Guru, (who I pray is doing well). One thing that remains constant is change, and losing those things and the old friend that inspired this little story with his original post, (who often brought a smile to my face), makes me a bit sad ... but it's also treasure that I'll forever keep in my deep (but worn) pockets, and bring out from time-to-time, to sparkle in the sun. Thanks ... officially. :)I am from Mos Eisley, Tatooine, which is known to many as a pirate city. Circular docking bays and landing pads dot the city, and the sky is busy with interstellar traffic.
;)
Bakhu, I just want you to know, you've easily put away the race for the inaugural award for "Dude Who Routinely Causes Me Greatest Amusement At Ungodliest of Hours." Well done, sir. Always a pleasure to read your musings...which always seem to span the widest scope imaginable.
