FIBA has unveiled a brand-new glass LED court surface at the U19 World Cup in Madrid, Spain. It is entirely customizable and can be changed within seconds.

Is this likely to be seen in the NBA in the future?

In the video presented above, the court's advanced LED technology enables the seamless rotation of a wide range of graphics, patterns, animations, and advertisements.

I can’t see this working at the arenas that share space with hockey teams, nor without Union consent.  The first time someone slips on the surface and gets hurt, they’ll blame it, regardless if it actually was responsible.

No thank you.  I understand super-imposing that stuff on TV, but can we keep some purity at the actual games?  That is a gimicky mess.

That will be immensely annoying & distracting.

I don't want changing graphics on the hardwood. I want to watch the game. Not advertisers changing graphics to draw your attention.

This would seriously suck if it came to the NBA.

More room for advertising? Bet that they'll find a way to work it in eventually.

I assume it will look like a regular court when they play, but will change for ads and videos during breaks in the action.  That might actually be interesting.

I can already see controversies of whether or not the 3 point line our out of bounds line shifted slightly during a key moment of the game.

I saw a clip where the paint was changing after made FTs. Sort of a congratulations for making your FT before the shooter takes their 2nd FT in between foul shots. Sort of like how a sound system will make a noise after a made basket to indicate a score.

It wasn't an ad. Just a changing graphic. Sort of a flashing colours / shifting sign in the paint area. Might have been a cloud or something that that flashed quickly across the paint.

looks like it made by a german company ASB glass floor.

https://asbglassfloor.com/

as an architect, my first concern would be show us the testing so that we know it is as safe as our conventional floor.
If I owned the Celtics, I would want that info, and years of use in other locations before I put my multi-million dollar bball all stars on it.

And how does that glass sheet react with a layer of ice underneath it?

oh yeah of course, duh....
i saw one video that said there are a series of springs in one version of the floor.

The website isn't helpful at all honestly.  there has to be a laundry list of specifications for the installation and use of the floor, none of that on the website.
That always makes me a bit skeptical as an architect.  IE, why do I have to call you to find out the true details of your floor system?  If it is completely vetted, tested, approved, just post your information.

Some of the interviews where it was used for handball had positive responses from the players, but what about as a basketball or soccer floor? completely different uses.

well that is stupid.  don't mess with the game action.
