Not going to click the link because I think these rankings are silly.
But I do think Simmons has MVP potential. He sees the game a step ahead of most guys and his combination of size and skill is incredibly rare. He had a great rookie year and got exposed against the Celtics. How he responds this season will be an important indicator of how the rest of his career will go.
He’s very talented and already a valuable player. For selfish reasons I hope he never develops a reliable jump shot. It’s hard, maybe impossible, to evaluate on tv but I did not see the cold-blooded killer mentality he’d need to reach the MVP level. To me, the MVP is almost always (among other things) the guy you would most want to have the ball with one possession left in the game. Possible someone in the top 2-3 guys if he is really unique in some other area.
I'm positive I heard the same criticism of Lebron and Kevin Durant when they were young. It's a thing that can develop.
