No issue with Remakes as long as they're done well. Before movies, different casts with different directors would do the same plays in different parts of the country simultaneously. This is not a new, or even bad thing.
I guess that eja would make the 'plagiarism v remake' argument here, but I think that its all plagiarism. Every movie is plagiarized. There hasn't been an original idea in 1,000 years.
True Grit starring John Wayne: Awesome movie
True Grit starring Jeff Daniels: Awesome movie
Planet Of The Apes starring Charlton Heston: Awesome movie, but lets be fair..kind of a cult film too, and there is just no objectifying those. They're just priceless. Like Soylent Green.
Planet Of The Apes starring Mark Wahlberg: BAD MOVIE.
Miller's Crossing: Awesome movie
Brick, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt: Awesome movie
Yojimbo by Akira Kurosawa: Awesome movie
Last Man Standing starring Bruce Willis: Awful movie
All based on the same 2 stories from Dasheill Hammett (The Glass Key and The Red Harvest), and in some cases, each other, and all to varying degrees of success.
Originality is to movies as the Dodo is to birds.
EDIT: And also, SIMPSONS DID IT!
