  • Peace it's a board. We all will never agree.
Well that is disappointing.

Don't we have enough problems finding minutes for Sullinger and Olynyk with Amir, Ty Zeller and Jerebko already on board?

Do we really need to add a PF who is going to complicate that even further?
The summer has just begun. DA has more to come. Lee looked good in the finals.

Andrew Perna: If the #Celtics are getting David Lee, I’d assume another move to coming to move someone like Kelly or Sullinger out of town.

Who's the odd man out or has more trade value

Remember, this is not a team.

Could we use Lee's contract in a sign and trade for Amir Johnson?

It's just an amorphous pile of assets that nobody wants.

That's why there's a chance there's more deals to be done.  Because I agree, they now have an overload of power forwards and an overload of guards.  They need wing help badly.  So there very well may be another shoe to drop here to balance out the roster.

I like it....If Sully wants minutes he can compete for it.

Every spot is up for grabs until someone proves otherwise.

Lee has a nice game and should work well in Stevens system.

David Lee and Amir Johnson should start. Two best big men on the team.

Two guys who probably have no future here and will be gone in 12 months time and whose playing time will come at the expense of young up and coming players.

You’ll have to excuse my lengthiness—the reason I dread writing letters is because I am so apt to get to slinging wisdom & forget to let up. Thus much precious time is lost.

Could this somehow be trying to use lee's contract to sign and trade for Amir Johnson?

Well they just traded one of their assets so they have some value.

Good move. If Lee proves nothing on the court, his financial value in a trade is greater than that of Wallace's. If he does, we may have a veteran big who can score and rebound, won't cause trouble, and is on an expiring to flip for future picks this trading deadline.

Draft: 8 first rounders in next 5 years.

Can't tell if this is sarcasm, don't think it is going by the general negative tone on the boards as of late, but the reason the Celtics made the playoffs last year was because they gelled as a team and played greater than the sum of its parts. Too much emphasis is placed on slotting positions instead of identifying skillsets and player combinations that maximize the talent we do have.

Man do I love this deal. People assume Lee is washed up but he hasn't gotten the opportunity to play major minutes this year but look at the 2013-2014 season.. 18 and 9 on efficient shooting in 33 minutes. This guy could honestly give us 20-10, he'll have a lot of plays run for him and should be a major focal point of our offense. Absolute steal by Danny. Back to the playoffs we go!

I dont get it. What does GSW get out of making this deal?
Wallace has a cheaper contract

How close or far do contracts have to be when making a trade?

Doesn't work in the trade machine, but toss in Babb or Pressey and it does.

David Lee averaged over 18 points and 9 rebounds in just over 33 minutes 2 seasons ago.  If he would not have been hurt to start the year, he might have still been starting last season rather than losing his spot to Green.

David Lee is a very good player.

Boston gets a shorter deal and a possible player flip
Golden State gets cap relief

Win/Win

we don't get a shorter deal as they both expire after 2015/16

I posted it incorrectly.  My apologies.  I was referring to the stretch provision for Wallace v. the ability to flip a still viable player in Lee.
