For what it's worth, Evan and Gordon each scored 8 points tonight.
I'll be revisiting this post and calling you a jinxer when Hayward drops 25 on us tomorrow!

Grant had 18 points on eight shots. Zero turnovers and only two fouls in 31 minutes. You love to see it.

Well we’ll see what it’s worth.  Obviously I hope you are wrong.

'I was proud of Marcus Smart. He did a great job of keeping us together. He might not get credit for this game, but the pace that he played at, and his playcalling, some of the plays that he called were great. We obviously have to rely on him, so I’m definitely looking forward to Marcus leading this team in that role.' - Jaylen Brown, January 2021

Especially because he couldn't hit the side of a barn in the first half

Finally, Udoka split up this bigs and did not go super small and we got a win.

He worked his tail off, but a lot of this has to do with putting him a role he can do.  He is not trying to rim protect and play small ball five which he is abolutely not and playing a hybrid of a wing/stretch four on offense.   He definitely knows to rotate to his spot when the ball is swung opposite of him to get open for a three.  Asking him to play C is simply putting him in a position to fail.

He came into league with a good work ethic and in great shape.  He got off track ,  he is working hard to succeed now ,  something Sully didn’t figure out till he was on his way across the ocean. We are lucky he has rose up to the challenge.

Half the problem is lack of preparation, professionalism and execution with too many in this group .   They could use a little Tommy and Red motivation to reset their minds.

I like the new improved Grant and I like him when he is not forced into a role that he is ill suited for.  He is a smart guy, so I figured he would figure it out it just takes some internal honesty.   He did what he needed to do.

I am happy to eat crow as long as it helps the Celtics!

I’d say he’s earned his $3.6 million option for next year being picked up this week (which is the deadline for it).  As has Romeo earned his as well.

good analysis, c4ever. TP

gwill is not only improving his game, he’s filling a role this team sorely needs. if grant can continue to consistently knock down the three ball, it will force teams to account for him, stretching the D and preventing teams from keying on JT & JB.
